Finally, she's here.
Surprisingly Amelia is very punctual. Well, she does think I'm doing her a favour so it makes sense.
"Here." She hands me their files.
I can't help but smile, wow this is working. I didn't think it'd be this easy to access their files. Or maybe this is a trick and she already knows everything. She could be trying to find Elisa's files but shame on her, it's well hidden.
It's actually beneath us.
I dug a hole in the soil and put one page of the file there. The other pages are in different pages. There's no clues whatsoever, only I know.
I smile at Amelia and say, "Let's sit down."
She tilts her head in confusion but then obeys.
I open Ash's files first and the first thing that falls out is his family tree. I scan it quickly in order to memorise the names so if any familiar names appear on Carrie's family tree, I'll recognise it. Then I laugh.
"How does a family tree show us Elisa's assisting a serial killer when we don't even know who the serial killer is?"
I wait for an answer.
She just laughs too, "No idea."
"Okay, so we won't be needing this." I set the family tree next to me, under my trainers so the wind doesn't blow it away.
I open Carrie's file to do the same with her family tree. However, I slowly scan through hers...
Bingo!
Noah Collins, now who on earth is that?
He's distantly related to both of them, a great grandad. He's probably dead. Maybe this spy group is a family organisation. Somebody has to be in charge, by the looks at it, it seems like Carrie's the one in charge. If that's the case, why not Ash? I need to find out who decided.
"So Levi?" Amelia interrupts my train of thoughts.
"Ash and Carrie, they're related?"
She gives me a stunned expression, it seems like she didn't know herself. "What, show me." She demands.
Of course, I handed her the family trees.
"Wow, okay that's rank." She mumbles. "I don't care how distant it is, still disgusting!"
I can't help but laugh.
She looks at me seriously. "I've knew Carrie and Ash since primary. Three years ago they had a thing and it seemed pretty serious. Then they broke up out of the blue. Nobody saw it coming and now I can guess why."
I shiver, "Yuck."
She throws the family tree back at me as if it's contaminated.
I can't help but ask, "Aren't you and Ash dating?"
"Mmm," She's thinking an answer. "I wouldn't call it dating. We're just really friendly, you know?"
"Friends with benefits?" My eyes widen in pure confusion. Yuck.
"No!" She scratches her head. "It's just, we've always been like that. Just touchy, nothing extreme."
"Oh, yeah kissing' no big deal." I try to state with a serious tone, but obviously she didn't buy it.
"Why you asking?" She raises her eyebrow and laughs. "You got a thing for him?" Then she winks.
My natural reflex was the mimic me vomiting. Never.
We both laugh. It's funny because Amelia and I haven't ever seen eye to eye.
"This is weird." I warn.
"Well, I'm desperate for help." She whispers.
I scoff.
As soon as I flick through Ash's files, she gives me a disturbing look. I shove his family tree on her face causing her to jump and squeal. Of course, I laughed.
Detentions, suspension, participation in a lot of events surprisingly, his call and text history. I grab the papers that show his participation, call and text history and suspension. Then I do the same for Carrie and I can't believe that she actually has been suspended quite a few times! I wonder why, I can't wait to find out!
I hand the remaining bits of their files to Amelia. "You can return these now and come back in an hour, let's go on a little road trip."
"So this is you helping, you seem very keen." She shrugs. "What do I do if I see them?"
"Hide." I say it as if it's so obvious.
"Gotcha, see you soon!" She waves.
Let's try get some dirt.
