Millie woke up in her bed with the carton of ice cream on her stomach. Her parents must have just left her to sleep. She looked at the clock. It read: 7:00. Shoot!! Millie thought. She had to leave by 7:35, so she only had 35 minutes to get ready. Millie scrambled around her room, throwing on some clothes and throwing her pajamas on the floor. She grabbed her backpack, zipped it up so none of her stuff would fall out, and scrambled down the stairs. She grabbed a bagel and waited anxiously for it to toast. When it finally did, she ate it plain, having to juggle it at first because it was so hot. As she ate, she quickly combed through her short hair. When she finally swallowed the last bite of her bagel, she jogged to the bathroom and quickly scrubbed her teeth, the cooling minty foam devouring her mouth. She spit out the toothpaste and rinsed her mouth with the cold water, which made her mouth feel like it was on fire because of the mint. She shook her head. Whatever, she thought. She threw her backpack over her shoulder and ran outside just in time to catch the bus. Millie smiled at the driver and scurried to the middle where Noah sat.
Millie scooted in to the window seat like always. She felt the shake if the bus as I rumbled on, and put her backpack on her lap. "So..." Noah said. Millie felt uncomfortable for some reason. She finally noticed that it was because Finn was on the bus in the back and was looking at her. She silently sighed and looked back at Noah. "What was up with you and Finn yesterday?" Noah said quietly so that Finn wouldn't overhear. Millie looked back at him. He was talking to friends, and then looked up to lock eyes with her. She silently huffed. Now he was going to think that she was looking at him. Great. Millie shrugged in answer to Noah's question. "At least write it down. Please Mills??" Noah said, putting a price of paper and pencil in her lap. Millie sighed and nodded.
Noah was the only person she would do this with because she has known him for so long.
He doesn't know anything about what I'm going through and he thinks he knows everything.Noah sighed. "Your right. He doesn't know anything about selective mutism, but I've been his friend for as long as either of us can remember, and he was bullied when he was little."
Really? Millie wrote. Noah nodded grimly. Millie sucked in a breath, suddenly feeling bad about yesterday. Sure, he had no right to assume things about her life, but she had no right to assume things about his either.
Will he accept my apology? Millie wrote. Noah nodded. "As much as he likes you, he will." Millie felt her cheeks turning red and a small smile slipped on her lips. Noah smiled and wiggled his eyebrows. Millie smiled bigger and quietly laughed, shaking her head. Millie never talked, by Noah was used to her whisper laughs.

Finn slung his backpack over his shoulder as the bus screeched to a stop. He walked off, stepping down each steep step. When he hopped off, he saw Millie pop up next to him. Noah was with her. "Hey man," Noah says. "Hey," Finn says uncertainty. "Sooo," Noah says. "Millie wants to say sorry for being a jerk to you-" Millie hit Noah in the arm with a small smile. He laughed. "For being unreasonable. She had no right to judge your life." Finn smiled. "I'm sorry too Millie. I was just trying to help."
"She knows," Noah said. Finn smiled. "So we're good?" Finn asked to Millie. She nodded. "I'll walk you to your locker!" Finn said, grabbing Millie's hand. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw her blushing furiously. He also saw Noah wiggling his eyebrows. He kicked behind him and hit Noah's shin. "Ow!" He laughed, and Finn smiled. He almost thought he heard Millie laugh.Heyyyy!!! Sorry I haven't updated often! I am re-painting and re-decorating my room and I'm so exited!
