Millie tried texting Finn and JoJo but they didn't answer her. JoJo had started typing but stopped, which brought back memories of when Millie had accidentally texted JoJo all that time me ago. Anyway, it was now school morning and Millie was determined to get to school early so she could talk to Jacob. She pulled up some tight jeans with rips in the knees, and a loose, lacy white shirt that bunched up into a crop top at the bottom. She combed through her hair and tossed the brush on her dresser. She pulled in some plain ankle socks and jogged down the stairs. She was going to say: "dad, I want to get to school early so you can drive me today." But something strange happened. It was like she had never talked before. The very familiar feeling of her voice stuck inside her was what she was feeling right now. She didn't know why and was kinda panicking before she took a deep breath. She's probably just having a bad day. Right? She waved to her dad as she got down some Apple Cinnamon Cheerios. He smiled back. "No hello this morning?" He said, ruffling her hair. She laughed and smoothed her hair back down. "Just a bad day maybe?" He asked. She nodded and sighed. "That's alright then" he replied.

After eating breakfast she threw a granola bar in her bag and waved her dad to the car. "You wanna leave early?" He asked. Millie nodded vigorously and he laughed. "Ok," he said and hopped in he car to drive her to school.

When Millie got to school she kissed her dad goodbye and ran to find Jacob where she knew he would be: his locker. She threw her stuff in her locker and ran to his, where he was hanging around on the bench next to it with his friends. She grabbed his arm immediately. She pulled him along. "What?" He said. Millie pulled him around the corner and onto another bench. She opened her mouth and almost chocked at the outcome. Nothing. She wasn't talking. She wanted to so bad, but something was preventing her. She waved him off and shook her head and walked away from him. Why did that happen?!?! She's not mute anymore!!! For some reason she had gone back to being mute..... She tried to think that that wasn't the reason but she knew she was kidding herself. She would know that clenched throat feeling from anywhere.

Millie remembered how the doctor had said one day: selective mutism isn't that she can't talk, but she has some subconscious voice that's making her petrified to." Millie wondered..... Oh my gosh! Maybe Finn braking up with her had made her confidence go away. All her fear come back. How was she going to tell Jacob to tell Finn and JoJo that the kiss was a setup?? They wouldn't believe Millie if she texted them or told them, she knew that. She had tried. She had tried everything she could think of. Now another obstacle in her way.
