"Will you - will you forgive me?"
Enzo stares at him. Stares at this boy, standing out here, in the rain, on Enzo's doorstep - because of course he knows Enzo's address, he has known Enzo's address since nursery - since they drew cars and made Playdough and cut out shapes together - since they learnt to write. Together.
There are tears on his face.
Rainy tears.
This boy, who is asking for one thing. One thing.
Will you - will you forgive me?
Dan would forgive him. Enzo knows that Dan would forgive him.
But Enzo is not Dan.
The Old Enzo would say no. The Old Enzo would turn his back, turn his back on him right now - cold, ruthless. Relentless.
You hurt me. You hurt me, and I won't forgive you.
I will never forgive you.
One thing.
"Yes," Enzo says. The New Enzo.
The Dan-loved-me Enzo.
"I forgive you, Ryan."
