I walked down the dark wooden steps and began walking in sand. Once I made it about 10 feet away from the water, I started taking off my boots.
"Um what are you doing?" Link finally caught up to me, panting.
"Going for a swim." I shrugged. "Unzip." I turned around for him to unzip my dress.
He stared at me tensely as he began pulling down my zipper.
"Thank you." I pulled off my dress so I was only in my bra and underwear, and walked towards the water.
Once my first foot touched the water it felt luke warm. The moon reflected on the water and there was a bright streak of light that seemed to go on for miles and miles.
I turned around to find Link still standing in his spot, looking all confused.
"What are you waiting for?" I murmured.
"Oh um." He snapped out of his daze and unbuttoned his shirt to take it off. He then pulled down his bottoms, leaving him in just boxers.
"Come on. Come on." I waved at him. He walked towards the water and screeched once he touched it.
"It's cold! It's cold! AHHH." He wrapped his arms around his torso.
"Once you go fully under it won't be." I grabbed onto his hand and pulled him so he fell under.
"Ugh I hate you." He spit.
"Oh really?"
"Totally."
"Because last time I remember you asked me out on a date on the zipper."
"Oh, right."
"Yeah so." I dived underneath the water and swam farther out.
Once I came above the water, I found him following from behind me, walking.
"Can you even swim?" I questioned.
"Obviously. I was actually part of a swim team in my high school last year." Link puffed out his chest jokingly.
"Mhm k. And how did that go?" I laughed.
"Hey, I was pretty good, believe it or not."
"Okay Mr. Tough Guy show me what you got."
"No thanks. I'm still recovering."
"What do you mean?"
"Last time I went swimming in an ocean, it didn't go so well." he explained.
"Go on. I've got all night."
"Alright well... first of all, you gotta know that I have 5 brothers."
"Ages?"
"I'm the youngest, basically."
"So go on."
"It was the beginning of summer this year and my whole family decided to travel to some place I'm too lazy to remember the name of. We went to the beach there, and it was actually a pretty nice day, by the way. So my brothers decided to force me to go in the water, though I wasn't feeling very well that day. So I swam pretty far out, trying to show them some of my tricks. Before I knew it, I got pulled underneath water, blood was everywhere, and that's all I really remember." he turned around to show me his back, where there was a huge scar running across it diagonally. "A shark."
"Doesn't that only happen in the movies?" I asked, receiving a glare in return. "I'm just kidding, chill."
"My life isn't Jaws, Maeve." his amber eyes pierced through me. "I feel like I can't do anything. I'm too afraid to take risks and be like myself before anything happened. Sometimes I wish I could go back home to Canada with my old friends from school and see my family again and not have to worry about what other people think."
