"Yes I'd gladly be your tutor." Bradley smiled at me. It was during break, and I was sitting alone on the abandoned staircase with Bradley.

Yes, we have an abandoned staircase. Basically when you enter the school on the middle floor, you go down the hallway in between the auditorium and the gym, take a right, go past the music room, take another right, past the cooking room, then take another right. There, there are bathrooms only used for the students part of special education or the ones with disabilities. If you go through the closet, down a couple hallways, then take a left, that gets you to the abandoned staircase. Students usually come here to smoke weed or whatever, skip class, or make out.

Only about 30 students know about it, and literally no teacher knows about it.

I had brought Bradley here to talk to him since I wasn't really in the mood to talk to the rest of the group.

"But we can't let anybody know about this, okay?" I moved a strand of hair behind my ear.

"Oh sure. But when and where can I tutor you? I live with Vanessa, you live with your dumb ass brother." his accent was so adorable

"I guess why not here, everyday during break?" I suggested.

"Deal." he shook my hand.

"Great." we both smiled and decided to get up and leave.

By Friday, Bradley and I had already met up twice for tutoring. And I actually did learn quite a bit. Besides, if I were to fail the next test, then Bradley would be responsible for it and can get in trouble.

"I don't get it. Rise over run for what?" I tapped my pencil on my chin as I stared confusingly at my worksheet.

"Love, rise over run is how you find the slope. You asked this 5 minutes ago." he chuckled.

We cross legged from each other on the flat platform in the middle of the staircase, papers sprawled out in between us.

"In case you couldn't tell, I'm horrible at math." I fixed the sleeves on my sweater and pulled them up to my thumbs.

"Oh I could tell." he threw me a small smile. "But generally you will be given two coordinates, and the question will say something like 'find the slope of points AB' or whatever. Then you divide the rise over run."

"I'm lost but okay." I sighed, then our eyes met. His eyes were a gorgeous grey color that seemed to put me in a trance.

He checked his phone. "Break will be over in 5 minutes. I guess we're done here."

"Alright." We stacked up all of the papers and put them away inside our folders.

"By the way, Carson had the idea of going to the beach tomorrow. It's the last day it's open. You can come if you'd like." he fixed his hair.

"It's going to be freezing." I shivered.

"You never know. Just think about it, okay?"

"Sure."

"It's cold! It's cold!" Vanessa jumped up in the air after her two felt the freezing water.

"It's not that bad." Carson said as he floated on a tube, his sunglasses looking up at the burning sun.

"Just go fully underwater and it won't feel cold after a couple minutes." Owen said, then reached out his hand for Vanessa.

She grabbed onto it, and Owen picked her up like a baby and threw her into the water.

Meanwhile, I was quietly swimming by myself in the deep ocean.

I watched as Ansley scanned her eyes across the beach. "Holy shit."

"What is it?" Leo turned flipped his hair away from his eyes.

"That lifeguard is so pretty oh my god." she pointed the lifeguard sitting on the lifeguard chair in front of our section of water.

"SHE IS!" Carson gasped. "I have an idea."

I looked worriedly over to Vanessa who had the same look on her face.

Carson jumped out of his tube and threw off his sunglasses.

He then started jumping up and down in the water, fluttering his arms everywhere while screaming. "Help! I can't swim." he gargled the water.

Dumbass.

I watched as the tall lean girl stood up from the chair and placed her hand above her eyes to block the sun. She wore a two piece red bathing suit, which showed off her long legs that seemed to go on forever.

We all silently laughed to ourselves as we watched Carson make a fool of himself.

The girl dropped down for the lifeguard stand and started running towards the water, holding a red lifesaver under her arm.

She swam towards Carson and he closed his eyes, pretending to be unconscious. She pulled him onto the lifesaver and brought him quickly to shore. We all followed.

She laid him onto the damp sand on his back, and brought her ear to his chest. She then placed two fingers onto his wrist.

She started pushing down onto his chest, then brought her mouth to his. Out of nowhere, he put his hands onto her head and pulled her in, kissing her.

She quickly pulled away in disgust and slapped him on the cheek.

"Oops." Carson laughed, then rolled away on the sand back into the water.

"I'm so sorry. He's just fucked up in the head y'know." I apologized to her. Some people left to go back in the water, while some people stayed with me.

"Well, it's the only my first day working here. I'm sure it will happen more than once." she dusted off her hands.

"What's your name? Did you just moved here?" I questioned.

"Thea. And yes, I'm new. I moved here yesterday."

"Why do people even want to move here?" Anthony gagged.

"It's lovely here." she smiled. "Besides, my father needed to come here for his job. The company moved."

"What school are you going to?" Vanessa asked.

"Butterscotch High. You?"

"Oh we all go to Butterscotch." Ansley answered.

"Ah. Well I better get back to work. I wouldn't like to get fired on the first day." she stood up and waved goodbye, then headed back to the lifeguard stand.

Oh, Carson.
