A/N: So, I made a new friend and I asked her whether or not I should update because I know she's been waiting a bit for the next chapter and she wanted me to update, so this is for you x (Sorry, I know you responded to this a few days ago but I built up the courage to update this -  LunaLovegood142)

PS This chapter actually took a while to update it cause this is my first time re-reading it in like 4-5 months to edit it anddddd it looked like I was writing this half asleep so some parts might not make sense and I really don't like this chapter, the vocabulary is really messed up.

~Third POV~

The past few days have gone by awfully fast, well, at least in the real world it did. But that wasn't the reason why they, or at least Derek, noticed how fast the days had been going. It has been exactly 3 days since they left Jake's house, which also means it had been 3 days since Derek ran into one of his siblings, literally.

Both Derek and Miss Peregrine came to the conclusion his sister was warning him about their so-called, family reunion. But as soon as she mentioned the possibility of his sister warning about their family reunion, Derek knew he should have left straight away. Mainly because, whenever there is one, which is around 1-2 decades, his family always manages to stir up some mischief. And, although he had missed 2 of them already, he was dreading to go back. Things either go bad or good, there is literally no in between with this situation.

~~~~~
The children's home stood tall as the sun came out from behind the hills and the trees, illuminating the surface of it. Catching Miss Peregrine's attention to check the clock and at that, it hit 7:30 and she made her way upstairs to fetch her children.
A few minutes later, they all came marching down the stairs, creating thumps and became seated at the table in which was lined with the preparation Miss P had made.
"So, Derek, when are you leaving?" Enoch wondered, sounding more irritated that intended as he took the last seat at the table and Emma kicked him in the leg underneath the table for being disrespectful.
"Not gonna lie, I was meaning to leave some time ago for family businesses.." Derek looked at Miss Peregrine to see her shooting a glare at him. "Please don't go! We really enjoy your company here!" Fiona bounced in her chair with a wide smile on her face, causing Derek to smile back at her before looking down at his food.
"So, Kate, how old are you exactly?" Millard asked after noticing the sudden tension that had invaded the atmosphere. "Oh, I'm 13. But I am supposed to be turning 14 in a few weeks, or at least in the real world I am" Kate chuckled at the end of her sentence. Just as Millard was to say something else, not that anyone knew since they couldn't see him, Bronwyn cut in. "So, Miss Peregrine, what is it that we are doing today?" She asked with a big smile plastered on her face.
"I'm not entirely sure what the plan is for today. Why must you ask? Is there something you all want to do in particular?" Miss Peregrine asked.
"Yes" Basically all of them said at the time, each of them having different activities or game they wanted to play throughout the day. "Well, alright. We may discuss this after breakfast" Miss Peregrine said which signaled them all to start eating, which they gladly did so.
~~~~~

A few hours had passed since they had their first and second meal, for the time was now 3:15pm and all the children were standing in a bunch outside in the backyard. Whilst, Miss Peregrine and Miss Avocet were cleaning the house with Caul and Derek laying aimlessly on the sofa eating a few bag of chips. Typical.

"Who's going to be at the bottom?" Jake asked and they all looked at him as if it was the stupidest thing he had ever said. "Well, I guess the strongest one will be at the top. No. Idiot, Bronwyn will obviously be at the bottom" Enoch rolled his eyes and nudged Jake out of the way and they all followed him to the side of the house.

"Bronwyn, stand over here" Olive instructed. What they were doing was completely irrelevant to anything they had ever done, nonetheless, Bronwyn followed Olive's instruction and moved over to the spot where she pointed to, holding out her arms on either side of her.

"Enoch, you can go next" Horace smiled, fixing his suit up. "What? Ugh, why me" Enoch rolled his eyes and trotted his way to Bronwyn, climbing atop of her.

And so on, they carried on doing that and after Enoch finished climbing on top of Bronwyn, Jake took the opportunity to stand on top of him, leaving Emma next, which was really hard considering her shoes were incredibly heavy.

Olive was next, leaving Horace, then Hugh, Millard, Kate and...

"Instead of standing on top of each other, why don't we just send me up?" Emma shouted, coming up with a solution for this very, very bad idea.

"Perfect" Millard agreed, nodding his head up and down as they all started climbing back down. "Finally. My shoulders actually nearly broke" Enoch rolled his eyes, filled with sarcasm.

"Good thing I was already at the top, and I'm pretty sure the twins and Claire would have been very light" Kate smiled down at the three that huddled around her.

"Why are we doing this anyways?" Emma asked as she started tying the rope around her waist so she wouldn't fly away. "We want to read The Peculiar History book, but the part Miss P always skips out" Millard answered Emma's confusion.

"Are you kidding me? Why don't you just ask Miss Peregrine about it, rather than stealing it?" Emma hissed, starting to question her decisions. "Because she will obviously question as to why since she has been over it like 100 times and we do not have a valid reason" Millard answered, again. Sighing, she passed the end of the rope to Jake and undid one of her shoes.

"Before you go. Millard and Enoch will climb the rope and get it, you stay afloat" Olive said and Emma undid her other shoe, floating into the sky with Jake holding the rope.

All in all, Emma accidentally floated to the window of the room that Derek and Caul were sitting in and when Enoch and Millard started climbing, the rope snapped causing them to fall down with a loud thump and luckily, Emma was holding onto the window cell outside of the house so when she grabbed the boys attention, Derek pulled her inside and Miss Peregrine dealt with the rest. Busted.

~~~~~~~
The children's household had just begun their final meal of the day, since the time had changed to 7:45pm, and as much as Derek tried not being obvious, practically everyone saw how his attire and mood had changed since this morning, for whenever it was silent, he would jump at the tiniest sounds or clatter that happened.
Throughout the few minutes they had been there, Caul had been lecturing and doing activities with Derek, trying to get his mind off of his family since Derek also told him as well, but whatever Caul did, it contracted some attention, too much for Miss Peregrine's liking and she silently glared at the two.
8pm came around and everything was going pretty good and Derek started feeling just a little relieved that there was no knocks or doorbell sounding through but just as if someone was reading his thoughts, a loud pondering sound made it's way through the house, sending thousands of volts through his body.
"What was that?" Enoch asked and got into the position of standing up but just as he was going to venture what was going on, Derek stopped him. "Enoch, don't worry about it. It probably was just a tree branch or something" Derek told him and Enoch eyed him skeptically but nonetheless, sat back down. Miss Peregrine looking up at Derek in disbelief.
Just as he thought his little white lie was true since there was a long pause, another loud knock made it's presence recognizable.
"Are you sure that is was just a tree branch? It certainly did not sound like it" Fiona said, confused.
"Just stay here" Derek rolled his eyes and put his cutlery's down, standing up and walking down the hallway towards the door as slowly as possible without it being too obvious.
Just as he put his hand on the doorknob, he instantly regretted this, he regretted not fleeing the minute he saw his sister, he regretted staying here, he regretted not leaving when he had the chance to do so. He knew he should have left. He knew that if he left and stayed away for a while, his family would not locate him here and after the reunion, he could have come back. He regretted staying here.
Twisting the doorknob and swinging the door open, there they stood...
