A Peculiar Fanfiction

~Chapter 36~

A/N - Okay! I decided to finally do something with Kate but she won't be 6, she's gonna be 12 instead! And sorry, this story will be a bit confusing but I have it all explained down the bottom, also sorry if it sounds..weird, I started to write this at 10pm which was an hour ago and I literally typed my ass off during this and it's 11:30pm in New Zealand (where I live) right now and it only gave me little amount of time to edit.

~Miss Peregrine's POV~

"Children! Time for breakfast" My voice sounded through the house, the children had woken up 30 minutes ago and decided to do their morning routines whilst Franklin, Caul and Maryann watched Derek and I prepare breakfast in the kitchen. Though, as predicted, all the children came running down the stairs, creating that usual loud thump.

"So Miss Peregrine, what are we going to do today?" Emma came up and asked me. "I don't know yet Emma, maybe you guys can just stay here and hang out with Jake? Surely he will have something to do" I replied and sat down at the table with Emma to my left and when signaled, they all started eating.

~A F T E R B R E A K F A S T~

"Still up to getting a phone?" Derek asked, coming up from behind me since I was watching all the children playing outside in the backyard. "Wait, you were actually serious about getting a phone?" I asked, turning my head to face him. "Obviously!" He said, louder than intended.

"Fine" I rolled my eyes and made my way upstairs and started getting changed into one of the clothing's that Derek bought yesterday After going through them all, I just decided to wear the same shoes I was wearing yesterday and a simple black skater dress.

I looked in the mirror and the dress did hug my curves a lot but it felt weird without a jacket, even though I didn't wear one yesterday. After contemplating, I pulled out a long black coat that drifted down to my ankles and kept my hair the way it usually way and proceeded out the door.

"You do realize it's like the middle of summer and you're wearing a coat" Derek asked when I reached down to the bottom of the stairs.

"Of course I do" I objected and walked outside to tell the children that we were leaving.

~Third POV~

"Miss Peregrine, you look lovely!" Claire said when she noticed her dear headmistress walking outside. "Thank you Claire" Miss Peregrine responded and the others stopped doing what they were doing since they knew Miss Peregrine was going somewhere otherwise she wouldn't have gotten dressed.

"Miss Peregrine, where are you going?" Jake asked and walked over to her. "I promise, I won't be long. Derek just walked to get something and I chose to go" Miss Peregrines said with an assuring smile on her face and the others went back to what they were doing whilst Derek and Miss Peregrine got into the car and zoomed off to the mall, again.

"I hope I'm not actually wasting my time here" Miss Peregrine rolled her eyes when they stepped inside. "Of course not" Derek said with the most cheesiest smile on his face.

Derek and Miss Peregrine were walking towards the Apple store when Derek heard something.

"Did you hear that?" Derek asked, turning around and stopped in his path. "Hear..what?" Miss Peregrine asked, obviously not knowing what Derek was talking about, plus she probably didn't hear what Derek was talking about because of all the people around them and he has much better hearing than she does, surprisingly.

"Listen" He said and grabbed her hand just in case. "I am.." She said with the most stubborn expression ever. "Do you seriously not hear that? Someone's calling you name" Derek said and looked at the floor to concentrate more on the sounds.
