A Peculiar Fanfiction

~Chapter 29~

~Third POV~

The morning light rose, breaking the darkness that once covered the sky. Morning colors spreading themselves across the sky as the light beamed onto one house to the other.

Miss Peregrine and Derek had been up all night, talking, doing what they usually did if they were to stay up and soon enough, she obviously had to start with breakfast with the help of Derek. She checked the time from on her pocket watch and it was 6:55am, which means the children still have a bit of time of sleep. That is when she turned around after putting what food she had already prepared and saw a view of Derek clapping 2 pans silently together, making sure not to make any noises, or at least he predicted not to.

"Put those down!" Miss Peregrine whisper-shouted, trying to get to Derek. "Or what?" He questioned, with a smirk plastered on his face, holding one of the fry pan's in the air. But of course, being the jerk he usually was, he lost grip of the pan and it came flying down and Miss Peregrine failed to catch it. At first, it landed on the counter and bounced off from it, bringing a few other metal things with it, creating a huge noise.

"Or you're going to drop it" She said, stopping in her movement and answered Derek's question. That is when the children woke up, quite in fear and she heard Claire screaming and ran upstairs.

~Claire's POV~

'Tea Party!' Bronwyn exclaimed as she brought out the remaining things needed for the tea party herself, Bronwyn and Miss Peregrine were going to have. Miss Peregrine and Bronwyn were dressed up just like me. 

'Yay!' I exclaimed excitedly and climbed into Miss Peregrine's lap. We were having our tea party on the roof of our very very tall castle that was all painted in pink and we had a pet dragon. After the tea party we played hide and seek and tag and other fun games.

'Found you Claire!' Miss Peregrine said.

'Oh man I -'

'Bang!' A loud noise woke me from my dream, along with a lot of fear. The first thing that ran through my mind was that something had broke into our house and decided to scream. I sat up, seeing that Bronwyn and the twins were also up and we ventured into Enoch and Horace's room and saw all the other doors opening and they followed us to our place we wanted to get to.

"Jake?" Emma asked in shock, I didn't know why she said that until I looked around and saw Jake. "Oh hi everybody" Jake said, slightly embarrassed. I decided to cling onto Enoch because whatever made that sound made me scared and out of everyone in the room, besides Emma, Enoch always knows what to do but that is when we heard footsteps running up the staircase and those belonged to Miss Peregrine and then seconds later she made her way into the room we were all cooped up in.

"Miss Peregrine!" I yelled, jumping off Enoch and onto Miss Peregrine as she tried to catch me. "Motherly god, what happened down there?" Enoch said. "Sorry, we had a bit of an accident down there. It's only around 7am, you can all go back to sleep now, we have very exciting news to tell you anyways" Miss Peregrine said but none of us looked tired after what just happened. "But Miss Peregrine, we aren't very tired anymore" I said, putting my chin on her shoulder and playing with her hair. "Just stay up here until you are all called downstairs" Miss Peregrine said, putting me down and leaving the room.

~Miss Peregrine's POV~

"I told you" I stated as I made my way into the kitchen where Derek was standing. "Are they awake?" He asked, completely ignoring what truth I told him just seconds ago. "Obviously" I replied, maybe a bit stubborn. 

~Skipping until breakfast~

"Children, you can make your way down now" I said, walking into each of their bedrooms since they all evacuated from the room they were previously in and got changed, along with doing their regular morning routines. 

We all came down the stairs at the same time, creating a loud thunder underneath us. As we entered, the children got seated while Derek and I placed the last remaining food onto the table, he also stated that Miss Avocet and her students would not be joining us for breakfast this morning.

"This looks nice" Claire said in a melodic tone, shutting her eyes and exploring the different scents in the food. "Anything nice for you, my darling" I said, with a wink and her eyelids flew open, joined with a bit of laughter.

After moments of silence, due to the eating, I firmly stood up, placing both of my hands on the table, as I always did if I were to announce something. "Sorry for the disturbance" I said as everyone surrounding the table shuffled their attention off their breakfast and onto me and I carried on with what I was saying. "I'm quite positive you have all noticed that Mr. Portman has joined us once again, unexpectedly for your states as he was already here when you awoke. He had already discussed this with me but he has some rather exciting news for you" I said, looking at Jake, signalling him to tell the children about the invitation he mentioned last night after the reset.

"Well, I had a thought about what Claire said yesterday before I left and so maybe, you guy's would like to take a step out of living in a loop for a while and stay a few nights over at my place. The house would be big enough for you all since we just moved into a bigger place-" Jake was saying but slowly cut off by a squealing Claire. "Can we, can we, can we? Please Miss Peregrine" She said, squinting her eyes with a huge smile and re-opened her eyes. "I see why not?" I answered with a smile and the children started cheering.

"Yay thank you Jake for inviting us!" Each of them said. Around 5 minutes passed now and the children were still excited about the event. "Settle down now, we better finish eating breakfast, wouldn't want to waste time do we?" I said and all of them went to eating as fast as they could, even Enoch, which I'm surprised about, my big boy wasn't always satisfied with leaving the house. In all, I chuckled at how fast and excited they were. 

30 minutes passed and we were all finishing off, the children sat at the table and waited patiently for everyone else to finish so they were able to get dismissed. "I better get going, got to warn my mom and dad so they know you're all coming" Jake exclaimed happily while a big toothless smile plastered onto his face but was soon disturbed by Claire once again. "Jake what time do we come!" She shouted. "When you're ready but please make it before 3pm" Jake said, looking more directly at me but answering Claire and shortly after that he quickly left.

Minutes later after we heard the door slam and we carried on eating until Claire broke the silence. "So when can we start packing?" She asked with a big smile. "Just eat your breakfast and when we finish cleaning then I will start packing your things" I said and they all did as said.
