A Peculiar Fanfiction

~Chapter 17~

Note: This is basically like a part 2 of last chapter, this is carrying on the school thing and this chapter will be the subjects of P.E and maybe English. This chapter could be rather interesting.

~Miss Peregrine's POV~

The children and I walked out to the field where our third class was held. "Everybody I want you to d-" Someone was about to say which I'm guessing was the coach but was interrupted. "Coach I want to have a race. Me and Alyssa vs that black headed shortie and the tall dude" a guy said pointing towards me and Derek. I laughed at the fact the guy refers me as a short person when he's barely taller than me.

After a few moments of consideration Derek decided to take shirt off which revealed many muscular features that wasn't visible under his shirt which distracted me a little but I looked away and tied my hair up in a ponytail. I noticed there was an awkward silence between everyone and when I looked around, they too were distracted by Derek. "Alright then...line up" the coach said and we did what was asked. "3 2 1...GO" he shouted and on 'Go' me and Derek were off with the wind.

Thanks to my peculiarity, I happen to be able to run really fast and Derek was about the same speed as me since he had the speed of both wolf and eagle. "You do notice were going to beat them right" he said and I just nodded my head, I haven't felt so free in my human form with the wind getting knocked into my face. "But I'm obviously going to beat you, ta ta" Derek said and ran ahead, I rolled my eyes then tried to catch up to him.

We managed to finish the race and when we turned around to look at where our opponents were, they were only half way so the coach decided to call them in. The girl I'm guessing with the name of Alyssa was complaining. "How is this even possible? You're beating my best friend Beth in most of the classes and now you bet me and Callum? Impossible. But that doesn't mean you are better than us, I bet you can't be thrown into the air, landing on your feet all the way on top of that wall and then flipping down with the person catching you" Alyssa said pointing to a wall in the distance. What school has a wall this tall? I thought to myself, and this is when I got a memory from when I was in my young age. When Caul and I were younger he would usually throw me anywhere at random times and I would be able to of course, get on my feet trying to catch my balance which was another thing I found annoying about him and I thought I'd choose him instead since I also know he's strong and probably wouldn't drop me "Alright then, but I want him to be the person to catch and throw me" I pointed at Caul.

Then Callum and Alyssa led us to the wall. "Just have good aim and throw me straight in the air like you used to. And I swear if you miss me when I jump down, you will regret it" I snapped whispered at him and he gulped but nodded. My job now was not to turn into a bird.

Everyone followed us and we got into our got into our positions, Cauls hand was on my waist from behind and Callum went down on his knees so Alyssa could place her foot on his palm. The coach counted down and on 'go' Caul threw me in the air, I did a backflip and landed on top of the wall, it was all easy since back in the ymbryne academy we did a lot of flips for changing forms, thank bird I didn't change into my other form though.

I heard the children cheering down at the bottom, when I looked at them I saw someone undoing Emma's shoes while she wasn't looking. "Emma! Your shoes!" I shouted and Emma seem to get the message but it was too late, she already started floating off the ground. I faced the humans opposite to me and they took a step back, me and Alyssa were still on the wall. "Go home" I shouted so my children could here from below and they seem to hear.

I ran and jumped off the wall turning into my bird form so I could fly to where Emma was, she was floating pretty slowly so she wasn't that high, but high enough so no one from the ground could touch her. I flew over to her and gestured her to hold onto me. I looked down and saw that Derek had turned into his wolf form and Claire, Bronwyn and Millard were sitting on him, I knew it was Millard there because a ball was floating. Caul turned into a bird and helped me with Emma.

When I looked down again apparently the school coach held a gun on him because he was pointing one at Enoch and Fiona. Fiona had thrown beans on the ground but it didn't grow faster enough and he moved out of the way so they wouldn't grow on him. I felt a wave of fear coming over me. I dove down towards the ground and heard a loud bang, before I knew it, a sharp pain went straight through me knocking me to the ground. I felt my feathers turning into human skin as I was growing bigger. My head hit the ground and my vision was getting blurring, then black spots overcame.

~Third POV~

"Mom!" Claire shouted, instead of Miss Peregrine, the word 'mom' managed to slip out. She hopped off Derek and ran over to her headmistress as tears rolled down her cheeks, she was the first one to notice what was happening since Enoch and Fiona were in the position of bending down, Emma and Caul were in the sky, Millard, Derek and Bronwyn were looking towards the school while Horace, Olive, Jake and Hugh were running away. Miss Peregrine had came down from the sky and flew in front of Enoch and Fiona before the bullet hit them and it managed to hit Miss Peregrine instead. Derek and the rest of the children swiftly spun around and saw little Claire hugging her dear mistress, at first they were confused but then they saw the green grass turning into a red color from her blood and they ushered themselves over.

After Caul got Emma down he turned around to see some of the children and Derek crowding around and he decided to check what it was. "Why are we crowding ar-" Caul was about to say something but his eyes adjusted on the person laying on the ground. "Alma!!" Caul shouted bit got no response from her.

He turned around and saw the coach holding a gun out, he pulled the trigger but ran out of bullets and Caul stomped his way over. "You. You shot my sister. Now you die" Caul said in a serious voice and launched himself towards the coach and the other students ran away.
