A Peculiar Fanfiction

~Chapter 3~

~Emma's POV~

"MISS PEREGRINE WAKE UP" I yelled as I can see her snapping back into reality, I gasped at the fact that I can see her tears welling up in the corner of her eyes but she blinks them back. "Yes Emma? Sorry I think I was...daydreaming" Miss Peregrine sounded really confused. "Yes...Yes, you worried us for a second" I stepped out of the way so Miss Peregrine could see all of the other children with me, Enoch, Olive and Jake.

~Miss Peregrines POV~

Someone was shaking me like mad and I snapped out of my thoughts as I nearly felt a tear creeping down my cheek but soon I begin to notice Emma was in front of me as well as the 3 of my oldest wards. I blink back my tears as she asked if I was okay and I nodded a yes, she swiftly moved out of the way and revealed all of my other wards that were standing behind them.

I felt really uncomfortable but then I soon begin to notice that they weren't staring at me but they were looking behind me. Instead of asking what they were looking at, I turned around and saw a big eagle and when the eagle saw me he flew into the sky higher than usual so none of us could see him anymore but even with one look I can tell who it is. "Derek" I whisper to myself but it came out louder than intended because all of my wards seem to hear. "Excuse me Miss Peregrine?" Emma said "Oh...uh...nothing, look at the time! I better start on dinner, it's already 4pm" and with that I hugged each and one of them and quickly moved into the house and told the children to continue their day.

~Emma's POV~

'There it is again, the eagle thingy that Jake said. Why is it always behind Miss Peregrine' I thought to myself as everyone was eyeing the creature in the sky. Miss P started to notice and she whipped around and when she faced the eagle she whispered something I didn't quite get and when I looked away from Miss P and back up at the sky, the eagle had flown away. I turn to Miss P and asked what she said but she acted really strange and gave everyone a hug saying that she needed to start on dinner.

"Okay children back to what you were doing" Miss P shouted and everyone did as they were told.

"Something is wrong" I whispered to Jake, Enoch and Olive so the young ones don't hear. "I know, I heard her say something" Olive said before continuing "And I didn't quite get what she said but it was a name" Enoch nodded in agreement. "She seemed to be doing that daydreaming thing again as well, this time I saw her eyes watering up" Enoch commented and I nodded indicating a yes. "Come on guys, I know I haven't known Miss P for as long as you guys have but I don't see anything wrong -" Jake commented but was interrupted by me, Olive and Enoch "No, something IS wrong. Miss Peregrine NEVER walks away from a situation like this and she DOES NOT get watery eyes about something completely random. This all started when we mentioned that eagle thingy" we all shouted at Jake. "Let's just push the thought away" Jake grumbled as if he just got told off.

~Miss Peregrines POV~

I begin on the dinner preparation for tonight and I notice that Fiona and Bronwyn had already got the carrot ready and I started chopping that up.

3 hours later

"Children! Dinner is ready!" I shouted to make sure everyone got the messages. I counted everyone to make sure they were all there until I saw a floating fork. "Millard, how many times do I need to tell you. Put some clothes on!" I said while laughing a bit, this is starting to become a habit now that I guess I should get used to.

After everyone is seated they all began to eat. They were looking at each other weirdly and then they would look at me, I sighed and just ignored the glances that they threw around the room. Breaking the silence, "Miss Peregrine, what did you say when we were outside?" Fiona asked making me feel awkward. "I don't think I can recall that moment Fi? Care to explain when?" that was a total lie and I thought I would get away with it but Emma stepped in "When we were all standing in front of you and you turned around and when you saw the eagle, you muttered something. It was a name" Emma said strictly. None of my children were brave enough to sound like this and ask such a thing, it actually impressed me. "Dear, you must have heard wrong, I didn't say a name, if I did it was probably eagle or something since we were looking at an eagle, I tend to whisper things I see when I feel uncomfortable or uneasy and don't usually remember" I said with a smile hoping they would believe.

~Emma's POV~

Miss Peregrine just told us a fact that none of us knew about. Well, none of us really knew anything about her, she kept her life a secret and a secret she kept sealed up but one thing we did know was that she was our beloved ymbryne and mother and she would do anything to protect us and was there whenever we called her. I hesitated to believe her I brushed it off and I look at Enoch since he was beside me on the other side of the table from Miss Peregrine and I could see he didn't believe Miss Peregrine but I nudged him a bit and my eyes read 'quit it' he seems to get the message and went back to eating.

~After Dinner~

~Miss Peregrines POV~

Olive and I made hot chocolate for all the children as they got ready for Horace's dream, moments passed while me and Olive had our casual fun conversation and I told Horace to start as Millard and Olive handed everyone their hot chocolate when I shut off the lights.

~After Horace's dream~

I went outside to reset the loop and all my other children followed me, they didn't have to anymore but they still decided to I guess. The loop changing was still the same time as the old one and I always like to image the bomb falling onto our house, not sure why, it's probably because I hate change and this house definitely changed a lot for me.

After the reset I tucked everyone into bed and I locked my bedroom door and had a shower in my bathroom that was connected to my room. Shortly after that I went to my dresser and got into some casual nighters that would only be worn in the 1940s and as I brushed my hair, my eyes wondered to a piece of paper I have stored for over 90 years, the words, the best words that could ever be written on it said 'You're the best thing that ever happened to me Alma - Derek'

I couldn't hold it in anymore so I jumped into my bed as if I was in my bird form flying and I tugged the sheets as hard as ever and I cried, a cry I haven't let out since my best friend was sent away from me.

~Emma's POV~

It was a few hours after I fell asleep, I woke up and I was starting to feel a bit thirsty and I walked out of mine and Olives room to get a drink of water and when I passed the head mistress room I could hear some rather harsh tears coming from the inside. My heart broke knowing that every child was asleep and those sounds could only belong to our beloved ymbryne. I ran back into the room I shared with Olive and I felt tears streaming down but then I started to drift into sleep.
