~Chapter 14~

Note: This story is starting to get a bit boring lol. And if you didn't notice last chapter I did third person instead of people POV and I didn't like the third person for this fanfiction so ima do POV again.

~Miss Peregrines POV~

As the children greeted Caul I could see his eyes were locked on Derek, knowing my brother when I was in my young age he was rather protective around me and wouldn't let me talk to anyone he didn't trust and if I did the person I was talking to would either be injured or told to never talk to me again and then injured. That's the part I didn't like about Caul, I can understand why he did that though.

"Alright children you can finish off supper and then get ready for Horace's dream. Emma, Jake, Enoch and Olive I would like you to watch the younger ones while I go off with Caul and Derek" I said and they nodded in response wasting no time.

I guided Caul to the main room as Derek followed us from behind and I shut the door.

Caul was the first one to speak "So Derek remember those days back in the loop and you described someone with raven hair, blue eyes and she belonged to Miss Avocet? Must I be able to know who that is?" He asked and Derek was blushing.

"I'm not sure I can recall those times" Derek said, which was pretty pathetic.

"Are you sure? You spoke about her like everyday sometimes it was the only thing that came out of your mouth" Caul said, he was wanted answers and they were coming to slow as I can see impatience in his eyes so he decided to make it visible himself.

"Because my dear sister has Raven hair, blue eyes and when I discussed this with her she refused to tell me what loop she lived her, sensing that Miss Avocet is here, she came from Miss Avocets loop isn't that right? And it'll make sense you were talking about her since now you're here" Caul said, he was directing that to Derek and he was speechless.

"Must you know I am still standing here and also Miss Avocet just came around to warn people about the wights and hollows and Derek was her...sidekick" I said covering for Derek who should be proud of it otherwise he would be one of those many injured people.

"Okay...well, I'm going to go out to where everyone else is now" Caul said while walking away leaving the awkward silence between me and Derek.

"I see what you mean now about before...thank you for the cover up, I needed it. I know Caul is really overprotective, maybe a bit to over" Derek stated. "No worries. Let's go" and with that we walked into the dining room where all of my children were located.

Olive and Emma were cleaning the dishes while Enoch and Jake were clearly all the children to the large living room where they would watch Horace's dream but Claire spotted me which held up all the children going into the living room and Enoch rolled his eyes.

"Miss Peregrine!" Claire shouted and made her way over to me. "Yes darling?" I asked but she gestured me to pick her up, and so I did. She leaned her chin on my shoulder and I could feel her hands playing with the back off my hair and I felt really awkward as I felt my hair getting loose from its style and I pulled Claire so she could look at me.

"How about I walk you over to the living room? Otherwise we would be holding all of the other children up and we do not want that" I said as I strolled over to the children who was waiting.

I settled Claire down and told the children to wait as I went to the kitchen to help Olive make them their hot chocolate as Emma and Millard waited so they could hand it to the children in the next room.

Moments passed and it was finally time to start the movie. I switched the light off signalling Horace to start producing his dreams. I noticed Miss Avocet was still here and decided to walk her into the dining room where I could talk to her without disturbing any of the children.

"Miss Avocet, what did you actually come here for?" I questioned her, later back when she said she was here only to warn me I could see in her eyes she wasn't telling me the whole truth and I was desperate to know.

Miss Avocet sighed before answering. "Although, the wights are on the loose, that wasn't my full reason why I came here.-" she sighed again before carrying on "- I was wondering if me and the children at the academy could stay here. Our loop has previously been raided and we don't have enough time to find another place. Please Alma, I am pretty sure everyone will feel protected under your wings and it could be the only way to keep them safe. What I did those years ago was wrong of me and I am deeply sorry" Miss Avocet said.

Of course I had to let her, as much as I hated her she was once my mentor and savior and there was no way I could say no. "Of course Miss Avocet you can stay here but how much people will you be bringing exactly?"

"Only 4, most of them were taken from the wights and hollows. They all know you, they're people from when you were younger. You were the only ymbryne from my loop to ever succeed in your job" Miss Avocet said. I was quite surprised she said that. A lot of people in her loop used to tease me about how anti-social I am and how I'm not on their level of being an ymbryne but I wasn't that shocked at the fact Miss Avocet didn't bother to save her children.

"And then what happened to the ones that were taken?" I asked, I hope they're still alive. "Heaven knows, I have no idea where they are or if they are even walking this planet" Miss Avocet said, at this point I was disappointed in her. "And you didn't bother to look for them" I asked in a curious tone and Miss Avocet just shook her head as if it wasn't a big deal. "Miss Avocet! You were supposed to protect them!" I shouted, she shouldn't have done that, she should have looked for them but I noticed it was nearly 9:07 and I would have to go and reset the loop so I left the room.

I walked passed the room all the children were in and turned on the light. "Children. I am going to reset the loop now. You have the choice to join me or get ready for bed" with no hesitation I walked out the door and heard footsteps of the children following me from close behind.

I played the same song "Run Rabbit Run" and waited for the right moment to reset the loop. We all looked up to see the sky changing, it was truly amazing to have the chance to watch this.
