~Chapter 20~

Note: This might start getting boring but hopefully some day, long in the future it'll get better xD and it'll be next chapter when she wakes up. I ran out of idea's for this chapter btw so it won't be the best. Also what do you guys think I should use Kate as?

~Emma's POV~

The sunlight shone through the curtains and beaming onto my face. I flung my eyes open, blinking a few times to adjust my surroundings, for a second I was worried as I did manage to forget that we were in the ymbryne academy. I sat up and saw all of the other children still asleep. I was about to lay back down but then I remembered. Miss Peregrine might be up! I thought to myself. As I was walking out of the room the children and I were sleeping in, I forgot about my shoes and they managed to make really loud thumps and everyone else started to wake up.

"What time is it" Jake asked in a very tired voice. "Jake, that can be worried about later. Miss Peregrine might be up!" as all the children's eye's grew and it looked like their energy had just been sucked it.

After some time we all managed to get up and rushed ourselves through to Miss Peregrine's room. The first sight was Derek and Caul. Caul was sleeping on a couch while Derek was sitting, leaning against a wall and it looked like he hasn't even slept yet. We proceeded our way to the area of where Miss Peregrine was and she was still in her remaining position that she was in and I heard some of the children let out a heavy sigh of disappointment.

After analyzing her face and all, we made our way back to where Caul and Derek were. "Derek you look tired, did you even sleep last night?" Olive asked, we were standing there for a few minutes until Derek shook his head meaning that he hasn't slept yet. Since it was really quiet and awkward, a sound startled all of us but when we turned around it was only Caul who happened to be snoring with half of his body not even on the couch.

"Well I am going to get you children some breakfast from downstairs" Derek said getting up, something was off about him this morning but I think it was from being to exhausted. I threw Olive a look and she must've understood because she nodded, I wanted to help Derek in making breakfast and thought Olive would be some good help. "Alright, Enoch and Jake can you look after the younger ones? I think me and Olive will go and help Derek make breakfast" I said and they nodded in response as Olive and I quickly made our way out and walked down the endless series of stairs.

We practically ran down and it took us around 7 minutes to get down, we had to wander around a bit in the corridor downstairs to find the kitchen, we accidentally stumbled in some of the ymbryne's room too which wasn't all a good sight. But after some time we managed to find the kitchen and by the look of things, Derek had just gotten all the ingredients out.

"Hi Derek. Olive and I decided to come down and help, get things quicker during the day." I said as we made our way closer to him. He gave us a few little things to do and not to surprisingly that none of them had to do with sharp objects, of course he knew that we had to stay away from sharp objects under Miss Peregrine's rules.

We finished making breakfast and all we had to do now was clean up the mess which wasn't much since we cleaned up on the way as well but it was really awkward and uncomfortable and I had to urge to say something. "You know Derek, there is something about you. Ever since you got here our headmistress has been so happy" I said holding some of the things and walking upstairs before he could say anymore.

After breakfast Enoch had brought up the conversation we had yesterday to everyone. "I think we should try to help Miss Peregrine, we can go to town and bring her maybe. It'll be nice for us and her to get some actual fresh and we can put her in a wheel chair" "Not a bad idea but we are currently living in 1500s which by means the wheelchairs aren't invented. Besides your headmistress should probably be relaxing her body" Derek said which I completely agree on, she needs to rest but when I look towards Enoch I know he's going to get his way. "Can't you just carry her?" "Yeah but it's not-" Derek was about to say but Enoch interrupted. "Great then lets get a move on" and with that Derek rolled his eyes and we all got ready, apart from Derek because Miss Peregrine had one of his shirts and Caul looked fine in what he was wearing, we had brought our backpacks from school and those had our extra clothes for emergencies that Miss Peregrine made us take.

We all made our way downstairs and as we opened the door a heavy shine of light hit us and most of us turned away, bending down to cover our eyes, except for Derek because he actually covered Miss Peregrine's eyes, the woman whose eye's weren't even open instead and tried turning around without dropping her which I found quite funny. "Did Jesus decide to hit his light on us instead of Satan? Why is it so bright out today" (Sorry if that offended any of y'all that is christian, though it is not supposed to be offensive. And no I am not christian sorry.) Millard said making all of us chuckle a bit. After a while we turned around again, still looking at the ground and eventually made our way out.

It's been a few hours now since we've all been walking and I decided to check my watch, it reads 12pm which means we still basically have a long day ahead of us. I looked over to Derek who was holding Miss Peregrine, I feel like if I were to be in his state of mind, it would be impossible to do so because he hasn't even had one chance of sleeping last night and now here he is holding out headmistress, he didn't even look like he was struggling.

"Derek do you need any help with Miss Peregrine? You've been carrying her around for an awful long time, isn't she heavy? You make it look so easy" I asked, maybe he was getting tired after all but he shook his head instead of nodding. "No it's okay Emma. She is actually pretty light. You even try" He said holding out Miss Peregrine as if she were nothing by a tiny object.

I hesitated a bit mainly because it would be the first time being this close to our ymbryne but also because this kind of sounds like we're treating her really bad like an object, but I decided to anyways. After a few awkward attempts I managed to get a hold of her, we had to do this as were walking since we didn't want to lose the other children of course. "Wow what? I feel like Bronwyn right now, of course I don't know what it's like for her to hold people but I could never hold anyone like this in the household and I am able to hold Miss Peregrine? I could even barely hold Claire? She is so light! Lighter than some of our children. How is this even possible?" I asked sounding pretty mind blown but I decided to hand her back and we kept on walking and looking in shops.
