I happily trotted down the little path I'd found about four years ago. Four years ago... has it really been that long? I don't normally think about it. I don't see the point in dwelling on it. My mom and dad have really been dead for four years. I shook my head at the thought.
I gazed solemnly up the little path, following the daily schedule I always did. I really don't do much. Just hunt always. All the time, everyday, hunt. I wasn't brave enough to leave this little clearing Mom and Dad had found, so I was stuck here, with a dwindling food supply. Everyday it becomes harder and harder to find food.
I whimpered as I laid down. After searching all day, no food could be found. Not in my human, nor wolf form. I'd have to leave if I wanted to eat. There's no way I could live here any longer.
As I pushed my wolfy self off the ground my stomach stabbed me for it. It'd been three days since my last decent meal and I was starting to feel it. I shifted back to my human form and pulled on a shirt and shorts. Hand me downs from my mom, but they worked just fine. Gathering the last of my items I'd collected over the years, I searched for a good path to follow.
Settling on a path that looked... safer than the others, I began a slow walk. The branches of the trees over hung the little path in such a way that only bits of moonlight flowed through. Just enough light to keep me from worrying. I knew wouldn't be able to manage much faster than my slow walk in my weakened state. My wolf went to sleep in my head. I had no idea how long she'd stay that way, she was saving her energy. If I didn't get a good meal and some rest here soon, she might not wake up at all.
I shivered as I continued to place one foot in front of the other. Time started to blur together and soon, the sun began to rise. My eyes watered at the sight, walking all night and not finding anything to eat wasn't a comforting thought. At this point I was too weak to hunt, all I could was stumble down the path.
By the time sharp pangs of orange were invading my canopy of leaves my body couldn't handle it anymore. My knees bagan to shake before they gave out underneath me. I couldn't think fast enough to brace my arms out in front of me. My face collided with the dirt and a short cry rushed from my mouth. Pieces of leaves and pine needles scratched against my skin.
My vision turned fuzzy and I couldn't figure out which way I was laying. My breaths were ragged and I felt like my body was shutting down, until I heard something. I'm not going to die! Someone will save me! I struggled to push myself up, even with my newfound hope. Carefully pulling myself into a sitting position I tried to wave, to grab the person's attention until I heard him, "Repulsive mongrel!"
