He continued to watch as she led Jay away from the crowd. He even continued watching, in disgust, as her lips once again connected with his. However, the moment she straddled him, he couldn't watch any longer. He turned away and shook his head. He wasn't even supposed to be here. He wasn't supposed to be where anyone could see him. He was supposed to be in hiding, to keep her safe. Yet, Jay was the one she was now falling for. He knew that was a good thing, she would have a normal life with Jay. He just didn't believe it was possible for anyone else to enter her heart.

He took one last drink from his beer, and left the beach. He couldn't help thinking back to what happened moments earlier. It was a stupid thing to do and he knew it. He knew he shouldn't have done it. Yet, he couldn't help himself. He couldn't stand being so close to her, and seeing her with Jay, of all people. They were so happy and cute dancing to their little song together. He couldn't stand there and let it continue.

It took a lot of persuading, and cash, to get someone to change the song in the middle of the one that was playing. It didn't matter. He needed some way to let Riley know he was there. He couldn't think of a better way than playing their song. For a moment he thought she knew. She even seemed to be searching the crowd. Yet, somehow she ended up only seeing Jay.

He laughed quietly to himself, as he turned down a dark alleyway. He knew it was for the best, he told Sam that, only days ago. He had to let her go, but that didn't mean he had to like it.

Someone clearing their throat behind him made him freeze. He closed his eyes, and exhaled slowly. He knew who he would see when he turned around. How could he have been so stupid? Knowing there was no escaping now, he took a deep breath and slowly turned to face the person waiting for him.

"It's been too long, Evan."
