Excitement filled within me, as I made my way back to the hotel room. Everything Evan said was running through my mind, making my excitement grow. I couldn't believe how close I was. A smile grew on my face, as the conversation ran through my mind yet again...
"I heard you've been looking for me, Love."
At first I didn't move, afraid that I imagined the voice, and I would turn around to an empty beach. I thought maybe I really had too much to drink, and it was still messing with my brain. So, I decided to ignore it and continue enjoying the view.
That's when he spoke again. "After all this time, that's the kind of welcome I get? You ignore me? You hurt me, Love."
I felt like I was frozen in place, but slowly I was able to turn around. I looked straight into his familiar eyes and sighed. "You're really here," I stated at last.
He smiled his cocky smile. "In the flesh. But what I want to know, is why you're here, especially since I supposedly tried to kill you."
"I know it wasn't you."
"Well, it wasn't, so that's good. But that doesn't really answer my question."
I watched him for a moment, and tried to figure out how to approach the subject. "I think you were there that night, and that you know who did it and. . . I think you know where Sam is," I finally replied.
Evan shook his head and chucked softly to himself. He was feeling a little nervous and guilty, so I figured I had to be on the right track. He was no longer looking at me, so I reach up to turn his face, which caused him to quickly pull away from me. He looked at me suspiciously, as if he didn't want me to touch him. "Just tell me the truth. I don't think I can handle any more lies," I said, breaking the silence that was growing between us.
He sighed and nodded, "Okay, but not here. It's not safe here."
"Where? When?" I said, excitement building.
Evan reached in his pocket and handed me a card. "Meet me here, room 32, at seven o'clock," he replied. " I will tell you everything you want to know, Love. You deserve that much."
"Thank you, Evan!" I said, jumping up to give him a hug, but again he quickly moved away from me.
As my attention refocused on the upcoming back door to the hotel room, the smile on my face dropped. There stood Jay, with a cup of coffee and a smile. I honestly didn't know if I had ever felt him so happy before, and I was going to ruin it..
