Finally the time came for Missy to meet Seth in the baseball fields behind the school. During the last class he told her:
“Meet me in the baseball fields after class.” He whispered and she looked excited.
After the bell finally rang I sprinted for the baseball fields and waited behind two trees. Seth had followed me out and was waiting for Missy in front of me outside the fence of the first baseball diamond. I waited in the shadows when Missy came out. She came up to Seth and he put his hands on her shoulders.
“Missy, I have somethings to tell you,” He began.
“What is it?” she said.
“Well we are both eighteen and of legal age to get married like we discussed but there is a change of plans.”
“What is it? Are you thinking of waiting until next summer?”
“No, I never proposed in the first place, I just need to tell you that I've found my true love. My perfect match, my soul mate. And she's the most wonderful girl in the world, I love her.”
“Oh Seth!” She cried and reached up to kiss him but he pulled her down.
“No, not you.” he said.
“Then who?” She asked.
“Me,” I said as I walked out of the woods and came to Seth's side.
He put his arm around my waist and I wrapped one around his and put the other hand on his chest.
“Why Seth? Is it because she's prettier than me? I know she and her sister are perfect but you just met her!” Missy cried.
“No, I've known her for weeks, that's why I haven't been in school. She needed me to help her, she's had a few pretty tough days. She came here for me and I noticed it not long after she cured my blindness.”
“But you promised you'd never leave me!” She screamed.
“I know but I can't deny fate, from the moment I regained my sight and saw her I knew there was something special.”
She stepped forward until she was face to face with me.
“If you want him you'll have to take me down.”
I stepped in front of Seth.
“Bring it.” I said.
“Mercy, I wouldn't, you might hurt her.” Seth warned.
“She couldn't hurt me if she tried. I have a black belt in Karate and I used to be in a kick boxing class.”
I motioned for her to make the first move. She tried to kick me in the face with a high kick but I grabbed her ankle effortlessly and twisted it. She fell to the ground but sprang up pretty fast and tried to grab my hair but I grabbed hers and she screamed. She then tried to take my feet out from under me with a swipe of her leg but I back flipped over her and pinned her to the ground. I was standing on her back and squatted down to whisper in her ear.
“Now I'm going to let you up and walk away with Seth before I unwillingly hurt you.”
I stood and Seth wrapped his arm back around my waist and I kissed him as she stood up to look at him. I saw the river of tears that flowed out of her eyes as we walked away. Out of the corner of my eye I saw her drop to her knees and bury her face in her hands as she sobbed. We walked away quietly, ignoring her. Throughout the next few days she gave me dirty looks and almost cried every time Seth caught her. This lasted for weeks. One day though, everything got worse. Seth and I were at lunch and I went to get two bottles of water for us. As I was coming back I noticed Seth was standing with his back against a wall and was crowded. I counted the boys and came up with eighteen. One of them lashed out with their fist and hit Seth in the stomach just as another hit him in the face and as he fell two others broke his leg and arm with their feet. I dropped the water and they hit the floor at exactly the same time he did. I ran over to him and saw that he was breathing shallowly and I had to get him out of here. First, I searched their minds and saw that this was Missy's doing. She hated me for taking Seth and either she was to be with him or no one was to have him. I shifted into my real self and told them that this was the real me and then I shifted into the original form of the wolf because it is faster that my normal form. I was twice as large as my birth form and of course, my Shape-Shifter size made me big enough to tie Seth to my back and run then I shifted into the form of the ancient wolves. My ears were a bit larger that my regular wolf form, they were made for extra hearing abilities, my legs were long and thin, but strong, and I had a broad, thick furred, chest that curved up into a super thin stomach with sleeker, short fur and my tail was three feet longer than my body. The fur on it was designed for speed and steering, the fur faded from short to long as my tail got longer. The beginning of it was made for speed and the bushy end was for help when I needed to steer into a really sharp turn. I used my tail to lift Seth from the floor because the bushy end was large enough to use as a scoop. I laid him in the hollow between my shoulders and created a rope, tied loosely around my back and slid Seth into place before I pulled the ropes up and tightened them around us.
Siobhan! We have to leave, some boys were trying to kill Seth and I shifted into the ancient form of the wolf and they saw it, hurry! I told her and replayed the scene in my head to her.
I'm on my way! She replied and through her thoughts I saw her do exactly what I did, though Percy was holding on to her back. He was pressed to her body so he didn't slow her down.
They made it to the cafeteria in record time. We growled to get the crowd to back up. I then felt something slide on my back. I spun around and saw that a cafeteria worker had cut him loose from my back and was trying to get away with him.
“Stop! Bring him back! He belongs to me!” I yelled.
“What do we do?” Percy asked. Siobhan whimpered.
“You two protect yourselves! I back in a minute.” I said as I sped off through the halls.
I ran low to the floor so that I could catch her faster and also to make it easier to turn the corners. The slick, linoleum floor made it hard for me to turn because my claws kept slipping. I turned a corner and saw that I'd lost them. I used my hyper sensitive hearing abilities and my super sensitive nose to smell out the cafeteria woman and Seth. She smelled like the cafeteria and Seth had his own smell. I scented down the hall and my ears twitched in every direction. I was passing the nurses office when I smelled grease, perfume, and a subtle hint of today's lunch. I was curious so I sniffed closer and caught Seth's scent. He smelled like a wolf, and an unnameable scent. It was his true scent. It was all through the hall so I had to scent closer. I quickly caught the main area of the scent mixed in with rubbing alcohol, rubber gloves, and hand sanitizer.
Ah, the nurses office. I thought to myself.
“Now, sweetheart let's get that cut on your head bandaged up.” The cafeteria worker whispered.
Just as she finished I grabbed the doorknob between my teeth and yanked the door off its hinges. She screamed and Seth weakly reached for me. I pushed my bushy tail through the door and he grabbed on as tight as his weak arms could and I gently let him slide into place on my back.
“Hold on Seth, I'm going to take you to Percy and Siobhan.” I told him and he laid down on my back. I ducked low in the hallway as I regrouped with Siobhan.
Percy happily took Seth off my back and held him in place on Siobhan's back. We sprinted through the halls side by side and burst through the front doors and into the parking lot and into the woods.
