Shape-Shifter's Promise

Chapter 32

 It was about sunset now. Everyone and everything was settling down. The twins went to bed, and the rest of us partnered up. Siobhan and Percy were cuddling by the edge. John and Amy were talking and cutting each other off with light kisses. Jake and Hanna were leaned back against the door to go back inside. Seth and I were just admiring the soon to be sunset. I sneakily created a stereo and put on a slow song. Everyone grinned and stood up to dance. Amy, John, Hanna, and Jake used their new skills to dance gracefully. Siobhan and Percy had them beat though. They waltzed and twirled and had fun. Seth and I just swayed a little, his arms wrapped around me and mine around him. I realized that we never really had any time alone at all recently. I kissed him and backed up.

“Let's go off for a while,” I suggested. “A flight or run. We haven't been able to relax like this in a long time.”

He grinned and we shook out our wings. We looked like a twisted love story. Like a good angel and a dark angel. We took off without a word and enjoyed the warm air. We twisted in the air and spiraled over and over. Soon we landed and went for a run in our Ancient forms. Every step made us stronger. We spent the evening and half the night relaxing. When we finally got back everyone was asleep. We climbed into our bunks and slept. Over the next few weeks we all got our grades up and waited until the end of May, school ended on the twenty-eighth and then we had until the date of the war was decided to gather others. We got ahead on our homework and classwork so we were done for the year and showed up to class only for role call and then off to plan. I hadn't told them about my plan for splitting up the group yet, I wasn't looking forward to it. We mostly discussed the areas of the world we would cover most. England, Romania, the United States, the Himalayas all the places we could find with eligible candidates for being a Shape-Shifter. Mostly loner's and others who have yet to find a family. We would follow the old Shape-Shifter's and change mostly animals. Humans would be too much trouble in that many numbers. We would find our first half and then their soulmates. But other than that, school will be easy. With graduation in a few weeks we will be out and free. College is a possibility but we can always make our own degrees and make anyone believe us. But we don't even really need it, we can survive even if the entire world was a waste land. If the human race and all the animals in the world and the plants were eliminated, we could still survive. It is what we were built for. And this war was to be our rebirth. The Shape-Changer's were coming back.
