We headed back to the underwater clearing. I shifted back into my mermaid form and created some giant rocks. I molded them into a smooth ladle shape, but with more of a slant and a inward curve on the edges. The bowl-like bottom curved outward. It looked silly. Frustrated, I huffed angrily.
“Here.” Seth said and created the perfect shape.
When he was done I looked at him surprised and he shrugged.
“I got the idea from a movie one of my friend's little sister watched when we were younger. It was the movie The Little Mermaid. I just tweaked the shape. It now fits two and has that long ledge that is connected to it.”
“Oh. Thank you.” I said and kissed his cheek.
I sank into the chair after getting my legs back. Seth got his legs back and sat cross-legged on the ledge behind my head. The twins were tired and sank to the sand. I formed some new boulders and shifted them into two large bowl shapes for the twins to sleep in, smoothed them and put loose sand in the bottom for comfort. I picked Aiden up and set him in his bed and put Freedom in the other. I sat on the ground and waved my hand over the sand in front of me. I did this once more behind me and stood. Bending over I grabbed a handful of the soft sand I'd waved my hand over and pulled the sand away from the ocean floor. As I pulled, the sand melded together and formed a blanket. I set it on top of Freedom and put the other on Aiden. I decided to contact my family afterward.
You can come on down the water is nice. I thought to them.
Where are you? They asked.
Hold on, I'm coming.
I shifted into my mermaid form and told Seth where I was going. I swam to the beach and shifted into my wolf form and walked up to greet them. They were wolves.
“Okay, we are all in a large clearing and it is deep under the water. When I say, all the females shift into mermaids and the males into mermen. Now, how many are there? One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten...”
Ten? I thought to myself, there were only eight of us.
I scanned the faces of my family,
Siobhan, Percy, mother, father, Kira, Kari, Meredith, Max... I took note of all their faces and didn't see anything different for a moment.
Then I noticed two more wolves in between Siobhan and Max. One was an extremely light gray and tan and the other was a dark blueish gray. They looked scared and nervous. Their eyes flicked from me to Siobhan.
“Who are you?” I asked them.
“Mercy, this is Luna and Shayela.” Siobhan told me.
“Oh, well then welcome. Siobhan I wish to talk to you later. Okay?”
“Okay.”
We walked to the water and as we shifted human we waded in to our waists and gave shifted into our mermaid and mermen forms. I led them to the clearing and as we were swimming I decided it was too important not to talk to Siobhan.
What is the meaning of this? I thought to her.
Mercy, look, I'm sorry, but the God's gave them another chance, for me. Besides, they aren't Shape-Shifter's yet. I am creating this for them. Wouldn't you do the same for your children?
I growled at the question, it irritated me. She knew the answer, but instead of answering I shifted into my Ancient form and sped off in a spiral. I stayed far enough away from them, but just close enough for them to follow me to the clearing. When we got there I just circled the clearing and slid to a stop on the sand and curled around the twins, who were awake, and hid them from the view of everyone. they nothing as I laid my head down and looked straight ahead at some coral and not actually seeing it. Of course I would forgive her for this, but her question frustrated me. I would give anything for them, even my own life. They came over and touched the side of my muzzle. I looked down at them and saw the concerned looks on their faces. They shifted into their Ancient form and curled up against my side. I lifted my head and licked them as if to clean them. Siobhan walked over to us and floated there. When I saw her I growled.
