Jake and John stood.
“What now?” John asked.
“Do you believe Amy and Hanna? About being your true loves?” Siobhan asked.
“Not really, if it wasn't for the fact that we just woke up on the roof with blood on our shoulders we would have thought it was a dream.” Jake said.
I rolled my eyes. Amy and Hanna groaned.
“Think about finding your true loves and you'll see the truth.” I said.
“This is insane.” John said.
I was suddenly leaning close to his face. I growled, Seth grabbed my arms and pulled me back.
“Don't ever say Shape-Shifter's are crazy ideas. It makes her flip out.” he said.
“Why?”
“I...uh, told her she was being ridiculous when she told me. She brought me to a river in the woods, The River of Destiny. Lies cannot reflect in its water, it showed her as the wolf she was born as in her reflection. Mine showed my wolf form. I don't know why I'm a white wolf when my hair is blonde she says it's probably because of my personality. I'm curios as to what you two will look like, though. Shift into wolves.”
They thought about their wolf forms and shifted into them. John was a light gray and tan wolf, his gray was so light in some places you'd almost think it was white, but then you notice the darker coloring. Jake was a cloudy gray with husky markings and a black tipped tail and ears. They shifted back to human and looked at each other in awe.
“Now think about the future, of who you will fall in love with. You'll see your true loves.” Siobhan said.
“Why are you so obsessed with true love?” Jake asked.
I took a deep breath.
“You will need a partner, a shifter you can trust with your life. Your partner. All of the future Shifter's will have to be of age. They will have to find their partners. Blood Mates, as the wolves say. Because in certain fights, and wars you have to work as a team. Siobhan and I are extremely close friends, so she and I have hunted together and fought together before Seth and Percy were trained enough to take our places as each others partner. Now we are inseparable. Freedom and Aiden are twins, and are not of age. When they reach maturity, they will be able to have their vision. But until then, they work as partners in everything. And they will be your first teachers. After you have your vision, we will train you like we did Amy and Hanna, though you will only work with your partner.”
“I'm not following you.” John said.
I sighed.
“What don't you follow?”
“The whole partner thing.”
“Partners, mates, husband, wife, they're all the same. Your mate, is your other half. You both are just one half as a whole when separated, but together you are one. Freedom and Aiden are a different story, but once you have found the other half, you will immediately begin working as if you were one being. If you watch us you'd see what I mean. If you've watched a pack hunt, the Alpha's are almost perfectly synchronized. Or like it was practiced, but it wasn't. It's natural, and it's part of the cycle of life. In wolf packs, team work is everything.”
“Oh, okay.”
“Now, please, have your visions.” Percy said.
They closed their eyes with unbelieving looks on their faces. I growled and their sarcastic looks disappeared. Then I noticed that they weren't even thinking about their true loves.
“I can read you minds,” I said aloud, So stop faking it. I thought to them.
They stiffened and focused with my watchful mind in theirs. Their visions were brought forward and played through in a matter of seconds. They saw the basics, Amy and Hanna, best friends, laughing and all details. When the visions ended their bodies immediately responded to the proof of true love. When they opened their eyes and looked directly at Amy and Hanna, their eyes were wide and full of belief. Seth saw it and wrapped his arms around me from behind and I leaned back onto his chest. John was ecstatic, he'd had an interest in Amy for a while. Jake couldn't help himself either. He'd secretly been interested in Hanna since John had shown him the two girls and pointed out Amy. John looked at Amy with a long awaited loving gaze. He grinned and picked her up by the waist and spun her around. She squeaked and giggled. Jake surprisingly just stood there and looked down. Hanna walked over to the edge of the roof and sighed as she sat down. She dangled her feet over the edge and looked down and out around the school grounds. Jake swallowed and looked down guiltily. I looked at. Seth and he let me go. I walked up behind Jake and touched his shoulder. He looked at me.
“Jake,” I said. “I know you love her.”
“Yeah,” he said.
“Then why don't you tell her?”
“I don't know,”
“Just do it,” I told him. “It's not as hard as it seems. Do it in style though, she'd love that.”
He bit his lip and walked over to her. He did it without her detecting him. When he was close enough he grew wings and ran at her. She looked up with a gasp and he knocked her off the roof, going down with her. He had his arms around her and spread his wings. They came soaring up with her arms tightly around his neck and her face buried in his shoulder. His arms were around her waist as they twisted upward. He whispered something in her ear and she looked at him in surprise. She smiled and kissed him eagerly and they glided down. I laughed and Hanna jumped Jake and they fell to the floor laughing. The next stop, was gathering more shifter's.
