It began like a plague. my pack stood on the far right end of the valley and waited for the Codeca Pack to arrive. Our small pack was waiting as we watched the Codeca Pack emerge from the other side. Seth and Percy were waiting on the hill watching us. When the other pack spotted us they charged. Our pack and theirs collided. Siobhan and I clashed with two females in the front. I easily pushed my opponent off and ran straight for Vitani. Her brown fur was blown back from her eyes and showed the fire of her excitement. She too was searching for me. She was becoming annoyed with the others that kept trying to take her down.
“Vitani!” I yelled. “Your mine.”
She smiled as she growled and sprang. I collided with her in mid-air. We pushed off each other and landed on our sides. I faked being hurt, waiting for her to get close enough to me. When I felt her presence I twisted and jumped at her, shifting into the ancient wolf form. My body was twice as strong as hers and longer. I landed on her chest.
“How?! It is not possible!” She yelled in disbelief.
“I have been titled as an Ancient. And your future is defeat.” I growled and we began to tangle. Our bodies twisted this way and that as we struggled to get to the top so we could rip out each others throat.
I finally just decided to give up. I finally used some speed when I was upright and took out her throat. She yelped and went limp. That was when I noticed a few wolves heading for Seth and Percy.
“Siobhan!” I yelled.
“What?” She replied just as she saw what was causing my terror.
“We have to help them!”
We ran to them in the bodies of The Ancients. We took down the two in the back but were too late as we saw Seth and Percy get pinned to the ground by five gray wolves and a tan one in their Ancient form.
“Vitani had others hidden in the back! We have to help them!” I yelled.
Siobhan and I took out four when we jumped them. Our strength allowed us to take two at a time. I was working with Seth because he had jumped up to help me when two of them were off. He had taken down the other one that was left pinning him to the ground. Siobhan and Percy were working on the three left after we took ours down. Percy killed one as Siobhan got another and jumped on the last one, the tan one.
She froze.
“Siobhan what's wrong?” Percy asked.
“It can't be.” She whispered.
“What is it sister?” Seth asked using the true term for her now that we were family.
It was then that I caught the scent. It was familiar in her thoughts. Hidden under the scent of Vitani's pack was something completely familiar. She sniffed him all over his neck and face ignoring his squirms to get away.
“It can't be.” she said again with tears forming.
“I agree.” I said.
“Please don't kill me! I was only following the Alpha's command.” The familiar young male pleaded.
“What is your name child?” Siobhan asked.
“M–Max.” He stuttered.
“Max,” She whispered looking straight at nothing now.
“Why does my name matter to you?” He asked flatly.
“Did you lose your mother as a cub? And two sisters, because of a crazed father?” She asked.
“All I know was I woke up there was a dead male wolf that smelled familiar and fox family around me. I was scared and ran off until Vitani found me and raised me. How did you know about that male wolf?”
