Part 1 ~ Chapter 2 ~ Voltron?

Voltron?

💙Lance's POV💙

"How did they find us!?" Pidge exclaims crossing the room. She plops down on one of the sunken-in grey benches folding her arms.

"The black lion," tension sweeps the room leaving everyone frozen, still recovering from a state of disbelief. No one had dared to talk about the black lion since our last fight. "It is not functioning, so I doubt Zarkon could have reached it." Continues Allura in monotone voice. We all are shattered in a sense and haven't had the courage to pick up the pieces. The white and grey door slides open and Keith walks in with his usual confident aura. "Who is this!?" Hunk, Pidge, and Coran all stand up startled by the new visitor. She was beautiful, her (h/c) hair flowed to her shoulders and her sweet eyes stare full of excitement and fear. I look around at my fellow teammates and see their expressions of surprise, but I know it's just a façade for the pain that we all felt. I casually walk forward playing into the part, well what I think is my part.

"Hi! The name's Lance-" I start smiling stupidly at her.

"Lance stop." Keith says coldly. Why do I feel so weird, like I'm not Lance, but I am. Mullet isn't making me feel any better, he's been so salty lately. "This is (y/n) I found her in the woods. She's human, at least that's what she told me."

"When I heard you say 'we're coming' I thought you had just misspoken but indeed you have brought someone with you. Are you sure this was the best decision?" Allura says frowning slightly.

"Yes. She was lost, if you are preventing us from saving anyone right now, you should have told me and I would have left her to die with the rest of the planet." Keith retorts avoiding Allura's judgmental glance.

"Umm sorry to interrupt, but can someone explain to me what's going on?" The girl says looking around clearly confused.

"Our apologies!" Pipes up Coran. "These are the paladins of Voltron, Lance, Hunk, Pidge, and Keith. I'm Coran and this is Princess Allura of Altea."

"Nice to meet all of you, but what exactly is Voltron?"

"It is a huge robot made up of five lion robots! Each of us pilots one!" I say smiling. Although she seems almost, underwhelmed.

"But there are only four of you, unless Allura or Coran pilots one?" No. Please why. The blow had struck and everyone stopped breathing. I want to tell her but I can't, the words catch in my throat.

"One of our pilots disappeared in battle. His name is Takashi Shirogane." Pidge manages to say but her strain is noticed.

"Wait Shiro!?" The girl gasps obviously having just stumbled upon some deep answer.

"You've seen him?" Keith asks looking up hopefully.

"No, but he's famous back on Earth. He was said to have crash landed back on Earth when he was kidnapped. I went to the Garrison do you know the place?" She marvels looking at everyone expectantly.

"Yes! We went there, well Lance, Pidge and I did. Keith kinda, uh dropped out." Hunk says as the tone of the room seems to improve greatly.

"We actually rescued him!" I exclaim looking at the girl waiting for her to fawn over how amazing we were. But she merely frowns.

"Saved!? You kidnapped Shiro! We were on lock down for a week while they tried to find out where he was taken!" This time her tone is harsher and the good mood had been killed.

"We saved him! The Earth was about to be under attack and they didn't believe his warnings!" Keith barks taking a step closer to her.

"Guys! That doesn't matter now! (Y/n) is our guest stop treating her like she is some galra!" Pidge says without fully realizing what she had just said. Galra, why did she have to use it like that as if it was a racial slur. Keith left the room not speaking. Pidge having realized what she'd done sits back down putting her head on her knees.

"I didn't mean to-" (Y/n) apologizes looking at the door.

"Don't mind him, he's just having trouble accepting Shiro's disappearance." I say trying to comfort her in any way I could.

"Without Shiro, we can't form Voltron, and until we find him it's best if we keep the lions safe. Even if that means that our fight against Zarkon is momentarily paused. The lions are our priority. You can stay on board until we find a place for you to stay, hopefully on a near by planet. But for now make yourself comfortable the mice can lead you to your room. We will take off soon." Allura affirms trying to sound as confident as possible. A new person on board, this will be interesting.
