The Ship

❤️ Keith's POV❤️

"Here this way." I take (y/n) to my lift leading down to the lion hanger.

"Woah woah woah, Keith where are you going!?" Shouts Lance as we step inside.

"Uh what sorry I didn't hear that!?" I shout as the lift closes. I hear faint shouting from above.

"You two don't get along very well." (Y/n) says laughing a little. That was an understatement. The doors reopen to the red lined tunnel leading to my lion.

"Here grab my waist."

"Wait what!?" She takes a step back.

"Trust me." Shrugging she wraps her arms around me. I'll it admit it was a bit awkward and she could feel it too. I jump my hands landing on the handle bars and we glide down the tunnel. I see the slide in the distance. Shit! I didn't think this through. "Uhh (y/n) put your arms around my neck and hold on." She moves her arms up around my neck. We near the end of the zip line. I flip my hands around so now I'm facing backwards. I let go and we fly back into the slide. Quiznak! We fall in a heap in the pod below as it starts moving down the track. I scramble up helping her to her feet only to fall on top of her again when the pod stops changing its direction moving upwards. "I'm sorry, I-"

"It's okay. Getting to your lion seems a lot more trouble than it's worth." She smoothes her shirt standing up.

"There is a longer way from the hangar itself to the lion but I thought I'd give you the full experience of a Voltron paladin." She rolls her eyes. The pod stops just outside the red lion. In awe (y/n) stares up at it.

"This is really yours?" She says touching its leg stroking her fingers along the smooth surface.

"Yeah, you want to take it for a ride. For learning reasons of course."

"Wait really!?" I nod, she runs up and hugs me. Her arms warm and for a brief second I could feel her heartbeat against mine. Then she let go.

"Red!" I call. The eyes on the lion glow and it bows its head opening its mouth. "Come on." She follows me into the red lion. I take my seat in the chair and she stands behind me clinging to the seat. I power up and the lion flies out of the castle and into the vast space beyond. Stars glitter making the dead planet seem less dismal.

"So this is space." She says peering out the window. I start to fly around making sure not to stray far from the castle. What the!? "Oh no." She breathes. On the other side of the planet lies a ship. Not a small diplomatic one, but a full on battleship. It was light grey with orange light seeping out of slits that ran all around it. Then a white beam hits the lion pulling it towards it.

"Allura!" I shout pressing my intercom button. Her face pops up on the left of me. "There's a ship. A battle ship." Her face becomes clouded with concern.

"Is it galra?" She asks frantically.

"No, its grey and orange. It's got the red lion in some kind of tractor beam." I try firing on the stream of light but nothing happens.

"Paladins to your lions!" She shouts. A minute later the rest of the lions fly next to us. I keep trying to pull back but nothing works.

"Try firing at the base of the beam!" I yell getting more and more panicked. No no no! I won't fail him again. I can't, no! The lions swoop by the base of the beam firing on it with everything they have.

"It's not working!" Says Lance pulling Blue back away.

"Can you eject into space?" Pidge asks.

"No, I have (y/n) with me, she doesn't have a helmet or suit." I respond looking at (y/n) truly she looks frightened. I can't let this happen! I put all of my fire power onto the beam, still it did not let up. Then suddenly an orange light fills the lion. Then i'm not in my lion. I'm standing on the floor somewhere in an all white room. No doors or vents. (Y/n) is next to me with burns on her arms and bare ankles. Falling to the floor tears fall from her eyes. I stand helpless. I'm sorry Shiro.
