The Red Paladin

✨Your POV✨

Sinking into the grass below the balmy air washes over me. The dark sky stretches on endlessly engulfing every eye that stares up at it. Trees stood strong sheltering me from the outside world, so at last I can be at peace. Piercing my ears a loud explosion sounds out in the distance. I scramble to my feet darting through the woods back to, my home? I come to the slow realization that I did not know where my final destination was. My pulse quickens as adrenaline courses through me. I glance around frantically holding my breath. Another explosion. Moving forward I start to see smoke in the distance. Where I expect a house lies a plot of land filled with small cat like creatures running in every direction. But what from? What the hell!? Grey figures firing some sort of laser gun emerge from the smoke. They weren't humans, that's for sure. My feet seem to have started moving before I even realize it. I dart into the woods again hoping to find a hiding spot. Where am I!? Maybe this is a dream. No, nightmare. Suddenly something tackles me and my body hits the soil knocking the wind out of me. I gasp for air. My head is yanked back and I feel a cold metal blade press against my throat. "Who are you!?" The voice from my attacker is smoky and rough. I notice hatred in his voice. "You're not Galra." I feel his weight lift off of me. I get up and face him stumbling a bit. He's wearing a helmet lined in red, his uniform white and red matching. His eyes a soft but deep purple stare directly into mine. "You-you're, human." He stutters taken aback. I hear a voice, female, almost as if it was distance but clear. "Here, come with me." Blindly I follow him not saying a word. He runs fast! I barely keep up, tripping over something every few minutes. Through the silhouettes of trees a white building emerges. A castle of some sort. Shots sliced the now noisy air barley missing my head. The stranger grabs my arm and pulls me closer to him holding his red sword in the other hand. "Allura we are almost there, ready for take off." He says quickening his pace with me dragging along behind. It's all a dream. That's right. I'll wake up, any minute now.

"Hey! Who the hell are you!?" I shout at him.

"It doesn't matter now, we need to get to the ship before they get any closer." I frown, considering stopping, forcing him to stop. But if this was all a dream I might as well just see where it leads me. We reach the white covered entrance. The doors open. I turn to look behind me. A large electric blue sphere surrounds the castle blocking any incoming shots. The door shuts behind us leaving only darkness beyond. The stranger comes to a slow relinquishing his firm grasp on my arm.

"Can you please tell me who you are now!?" I blurt out growing impatient of this stranger, no attacker's, prolonged introduction. He pauses and turns to face me.

"No, first your going to tell me how you got to this planet and who you really are."

"My name is (y/n) and this planet I thought was my home, Earth." He crosses his arms and I could feel his eyes analyzing my every feature. Why was he so mistrusting?

"Well you aren't on Earth-"

"Then where am I?" I cut him off tired of his indirectness. He looks at me reproachfully.

"You're on a planet called Versantua. I've been out here for a awhile and I haven't seen a human on any other planet than Earth."

"You are human, at least you appear to be, where are you from?" He shifts his weight uncomfortably at my comment, for a reason I do not know, and frankly do not care. This dream was becoming to realistic.

"Earth. Just like you, but how did you get here?" That question puzzles me, in fact I don't know how I got here. I know who I am, I know what my family looks like. It's like I lost my memory, a big blank.

"I'm not sure, the last thing I remember was being out in a field of grass. That's it." He seems to think for a moment before speaking again.

"My name is Keith. I'm a paladin of," something stops him. I stare at him intently eager to hear what he is about to say. But this word seem to cause him pain, he seemed so confident and composed seconds ago, now it's as if he's broken. "Voltron." He says at last and walks down the hall, not uttering another word.
