Lock-in

✨Your POV✨

"Let's play truth or dare!" Lance shouts looking eagerly at Hunk and Pidge for approval. Of course they join in springing up. Keith turns away from the jubilant group, his face seemingly downcast. I wonder what his problem is, he appears so, depressed. It's probably because of Shiro's disappearance. The repercussions of this radiating their way back to Earth.

"I don't understand, I thought sleepovers were for sleeping, why aren't you doing so?" Allura says coming over to the circle that everyone had formed, Keith being the only exception. As they explain to her what a 'sleepover' is I quietly get up and make my way over to the lone wolf with the mullet.

"Hey, Keith," he stares at me and I begin to feel slightly uncomfortable, something about him was off. He acted so harsh and cold, but I'm sure that he really isn't all that bad. "I'm sorry if I said something that-"

"It's fine." He cuts me off quickly obviously not wanting my presence or conversation. I get up and start towards the group. He wasn't going to ruin my time here. "Have you ever fought before?" He inquires. I freeze in my tracks completely surprised. Not turning around I reply.

"Yes. I have." I wait for his response but he doesn't say anything. Suddenly an eruption of laughter breaks out and apparently I walk up at the wrong time because minutes later I find myself on the ground with a pile of people on my back, the cool floor against my chest. "Hey! This isn't funny! Get, ah, off!" Everyone bursts out laughing causing their people pile to be destroyed. We continue messing around for the next hour or so. I notice Allura had been growing steadily more anxious as time went on.

"Pidge, how long has it been since Coran left?" She asks. Pidge looks down at her watch frowning a bit.

"About an hour and a half, didn't he say that it would only take a varga?"

"Yes, that's odd. Something must have gone wrong! We must hurry and find a way to get to him!" Allura says throwing herself against the door and then trying to pry it open with her hands. The door not budging, she retreats sliding down on her knees her golden brown forehead pressed against the metal.

"Allura calm down." Says Keith. I jump at the sound of his voice and turn my head to see him just standing a foot away. When had he gotten up? "He must have had some trouble, i'm sure he'll have it fixed soon. But really we should all rest, (y/n) will train with us tomorrow. Maybe she was found by us for a reason, she could be of help." I draw in a sharp breath. His speech had shocked me. Allura, her hopes seemingly raised a little, stood up. She merely nods at Keith. I wonder what that's all about. Quietly Allura moves across the room, gliding almost, and finally settles down placing her head on the step of the elevated platform that sat in the center of the room. Her eyes close and minutes pass with her slowly drifting into a slumber. She didn't look well, she really needs that sleep. The others, also intently watching, look relieved. Pidge lays down close to Hunk their backs against each other sharing Hunk's vest as a pillow, while Lance spreads his arms across one of the chairs and leans his head back. Lastly Keith sits down wrapping his jacketed arms around his knees. Following everyone else I attempt to get comfortable but remain unsuccessful. My mind wanders, thoughts of Earth come rushing back. My home, small suburban simple. My mother's smile, the way she cried as I left for the Garrison. Suddenly I feel alone, I really don't know these people. I had just met them, should I have been so trusting. They kidnapped Shiro, but they did save me. But was it of purely good intentions. They spoke of this galra race as if it were the devil itself, but what if they were the real enemy. No, they seem to kind to be evil. Even Keith. I feel someone walk by my head. Careful not to make a noise I glance up just enough so I could see who it was.

Lance sits by the window looking out into space, with the stars that glitter before him. I join him. "Do you ever miss it?" He asks me almost in a whisper. I look at him, he reminded me of one of my old friends back at the Garrison. The way he looked at the stars with a distant melancholy gaze.

"Miss what?" I reply, though I knew he was talking about Earth. I guess I never really thought, had time to think, about how it must be for them. Stuck out here in space.

"Earth, the sand, the sound of waves crashing."

"Yeah, but I'm sure I'll see it again soon." He doesn't tare his eyes away from the window.

"Es hermoso. (It is beautiful)" The words left his mouth unconsciously. He suddenly realizes what he had said and looks at me. I just smile. "I'm sorry I haven't spoken in a while, and you see-"

"Está bien. (It's okay)" I reply. Lance was completely shocked. A small giggle escapes my lips and a smile his. Maybe I can fit in here, maybe we aren't so different after all.
