"he's such a, a, um i can't even think of a word, angus"

"how...about asshole? dickhead? jerkface?" he chuckles, watching the girl's leg shake underneath the lunch table, she was angry and he hated seeing her like this, so emotional about someone's idiotic words towards her. she had been sitting beside him for exactly four minutes and she hadn't quite discussed what had happened that made her so upset, so emotionally disturbed. he had noticed that anika was wearing a pair of different glasses, he wanted to ask what happened to her original pair but she seemed too upset to engage in a human social interaction.

so, being angus lee's and having an extreme curious nature, he asked, "what happened?"

"carson ruined my glasses, so i have to wear these ones, i don't like these. they hurt my nose" a small pout stained her face, "what? when?"

"it's nothing, angus, i-"

"it's not nothing, you're on the verge of tears, anika" his expression showed pure concern, the rush of anger flowed through his veins from his heart as she explained what had happened. carson with all his ignorance and flashy dollar signs had grasped her glasses from off her desk once she was distracted, trying to retrieve a microfiber cloth to wipe away the musty fog that had come from a classmate's mouth as they spoke immature words to her, that she properly ignored like a fierce princess. when carson took her precious glasses, one of his friends jolted his arm causing them to fall onto the ground, causing scratches and dirt to pile onto the frames.

anika's leg continued to shake as she took a sip of her cartoon of strawberry milk. in the back of his mind, he was battling whether or not he should involve himself in this situation, he knew she wouldn't approve but knowing someone had disrespected her made his stomachache from the pure disgust, "i'll punch him for you"

she chuckles and her legs comes to a halt, "he's not worth getting in trouble for, trust me. he's just a jerk who constantly wants attention and thinks teasing innocent people makes him cool" angus could physically see the huge breath of pressure in her chest and brain had slowly disappeared once she spoke those words. she wasn't going to give carson or his pathetic friends any power. the moments immediately replayed in her head, the teacher had told carson to go to the principal's office, the teacher slammed his book against the desk when the small group had began to laugh, "that's enough!" he bellowed loudly, "carson, get out. principal's office, now! everyone else be quiet. miss anika, you may be dismissed if you need to go to your locker or the front office

he shot her a smile and continued to teach the class. she left the room and didn't return because she was frustrated that her favorite glasses were broken and the other ones in her locker caused a bruise on her nose and were tight against her head.

she smiles softly as angus glanced at her trying to figure out whether he should engulf her in a strong hug or sock carson in the throat. she tried to enjoy her lunch. sometimes her foot would shake unconsciously, or she'd tap her fingers against the cold plastic table. the sounds of others eating their lunch with flapping lips and annoying slurps made her skin feel odd. angus didn't say much as his mind was in thought, he was disturbing seeing anika so fazed by the situation.

"an-angus, i'll be back" before he could respond, she shot up from her seat as if it was scorching hot, the sound of the metal colliding with the white tiles under made people in the surrounding hold their ears. she rushed towards the exit, he wasn't too far behind.

her aura was dark blue, slowly changing to red as a figure in the hallway, bumped into her arm, the figure turned slightly as she passed, tapping her shoulder swiftly to get her attention.

all angus could hear was, "don't touch me" and the sound of someone slapping another's flesh. it was carson, anika had slapped.

at first, angus couldn't believe it, had his eyes played a trick, or had anika reached the top of her breaking point. either way, he was satisfied that someone had finally slapped the spoiled, wealthy kid.

"anika, nika, wait-" angus rushed, coming up behind her with his hand out, barely touching hers. "...you should sit down for a second" her cheeks were red and wet, her chest rose rapidly, he could hear her breathing from a mile away, she was crying. this was the first time he had seen her cry. his heart dropped to his stomach as he grasped her, holding her firmly in her arms and squeezed. one arm held her in place, with a firmness at her shoulders, the other rubbed her back tenderly.

he could feel her sob, the vibration of her back and stomach as she breathed in as her nose sniffed, "this is unfair. i shouldn't be crying, they don't deserve my emotions, i shouldn't have to feel this way, it's not fair" she mumbled into his shirt.

angus had a class with carson at the end of the day, he made sure his fist properly introduced itself to the bully's face before that class ended and he happily got on the bus with anika and her mountain of books.

I had half of this chapter in my drafts and wanted to try and finish it. I sadly had forgotten about this account and my love for these books. I promise to not be gone for so long next time. <3

Thank you to the people who have read this book and thank you to the people that hadn't forgotten about it over the years. Thank you!

I want to finish Anika and Angus's story.
