the coffee bubbled into their stomachs, desperately telling their brains that they had consumed too much coffee, anika loved the atmosphere of the coffee shop, owned by the sweetest couple in town. the artwork on the walls of the cafe made her smile and inspired her to take out her aging paint from the lonely area of her closet. the grin on angus's face made her giggle. "what are you thinking about?" she asks, softly tapping her painted nails against the wooden work of the table.
"i don't know, everything" the boy just smiles, admiring the sight in front of him, the lusciousness of anika's hair, the brightness of her skin and those adorably large glasses that fell against her cheeks, in his eyes she was the definition was beauty. a real beauty. the slight growth of stubble against his chin tickled as the doors of the coffee shop opened and closed, allowing icy cold air to blow into, chilling their skin. "can i ask you a question, nika?"
"of course"
"are you free this weekend? um, there's a movie playing in town and i, i wanted to ask if you'd come with me?"
she smiles, grasping his hand that laid blankly on the table, "sure. totally" the dark brown color was her doe eyes shined bright underneath the clearness of her glasses with cheetah printed frames. the coffee shop was filled with people, teens like them, college students typing away on their computers and parents itching for a moment of peace and freedom. "angus? do you remember the first day we truly talked?" he nods, taking a sip of the dark bliss in the cherry colored mug, "you were complaining about homework to yourself and i just happened to hear you. i still agree with your statement. homework, at a certain point, becomes unnecessary" she just smiles, admiring his handsome face, the slight stubble made him look older, maybe three years older, the darkness under his eyes were finally fading nicely. a gently grin replaced his neutral lip position as he noticed that she was looking at him, more like observing his face.
that made his cheeks feel warm, the day became colder and more snow began to fall against the roads, the innocent warm bodies walking along the streets, covering the clear windows of parked cars. the two teenagers hands collided, the body was in the lead, leading them to a snow covered path full of iced trees and chilled water flowing down a small cliff. the sight was beautiful, gorgeous and made anika feel at home.
"how are things at home, angus?"
he tilts his head slightly, "things are fine. my mom isn't a stone faced robot and my siblings aren't constantly crying" he softly chuckles, "the other morning my mother told me good morning and made us all breakfast. i think she's happy, i'm happy that she's happy" anika smiles, shuffling through her small satchel like purse, "that's great. i met two of your siblings the other day, um, linda and betty"
"really? dear god" he mumbles, "they were playing with mrs. kendall's cat, the little one liked my glasses" she giggles, grasping her favorite book, opening to a certain page. the bench that were siting on, he cleared it with the extra jacket around his waist. she sat next to him, glancing down at her book with a gentle smile. he gently placed his arm around her shoulders, hoping to keep her warm.
"i've never thanked you for being nice to me"
"you don't ever have to thank me, anika. it's called being a decent person who values others and has respect. don't thank me" his cold lips pressed against the warmth of her cheek.
"it's beautiful out here, how'd you find this place?"
"it's not that far from the creek i showed you, do you like it?"
"i love it, so aesthetic" the moment, the timing was perfect. the comfort she felt with angus was indescribable, she felt like she didn't have to change her tone, personality or desires in the slightest, he enjoyed her just the way she was. he made her feel at home, warm, full of comfort and freedom. and she needed that. just like he did, the chaos of family drama was enough for angus lee to go insane with stress and insomnia, luckily anika was always there. times when she felt so alone and needy for comfort or a gentle gesture he was always near, it's like he always knew before she could even speak a single word. that made both their hearts flutter was such joy, the type of joy that's indescribable that it made them speechless.
he clears his throat quietly, slowly increasing his grasp around his shoulder so she'd laid against his chest. her hair tickling under his chin. "i love this" he whispers, her reading pauses, "what'd you say, angus?"
"i love this. being with you"
"aw, angus lee"
the snow continued to fall swiftly as her pink lips kissed his firmly.
i haven't written in this book in so long and i've missed it so terribly. i have two accounts and i've let this one become dust and i deeply apologized for forgetting you guys and this book, this beautiful book that warms my heart. new chapters are coming, promise. anika and angus's story isn't over, because i'm in love with the both of them and can't seem to let them go.
