Three - Crisis Averted

A third silence fell over them. The first woman that German had loved had now met the third girlfriend, if you classed Angie that, since her death.

Ludmila and Violetta held their breath. This afternoon wasn't going to end well. They looked at each other and their respected third of the relationship. None of them had really counted on seeing Angie here.

Priscila looked Angie up and down. She had nice shoes, but terrible hair. A decent bag, a nice top. Her make up wasn't flawless but it would do. She had nice eyes. Priscila smiled to herself, she wasn't any competition for her.

German squeezed her hand, trying to will her on to say something. Neither of them had said a word! They didn't like each other. They didn't like each other. That was German's worst fear realised. When he wanted a future with Priscila, Angie would be at the wedding and at the engagement party, but she would be alone. There was Pablo, he thought then. Pablo had always loved her. He was waiting for her. He could be her date. That was unfair though, he shouldn't have to wait for Angie. She should have someone. Him.

He shook his head to eliminate his thoughts. Just say something! Any one of you! Please.

The silence is starting to kill me.

Luckily, Priscilla opened her mouth, "Nice to meet you, Angie." she said in an insipid tone. She extended her hand. Angie shook it.

They had now formally met. At least you only have to do the 'meeting' part once. German was glad about this because he didn't want to live through experience again. Hopefully he would never have another woman to bring home. Well, technically, abroad.

Wait, did he really just think that?

Priscilla was a breath of fresh air for him. She was different to anyone else he has ever dated. Or married. She was completely different to Maria. That was a good thing. Or maybe it wasn't. Perhaps that's why Angie wasn't impressed with her. She didn't remind her of Maria. But did she wanted to be reminded of her dead sister? He didn't know that. He never would. It wasn't like he could read her mind. But he cold read her heart.

Stop it!, urged his mind, you have a beautiful woman here and you're showing her off. Focus on her. Pris-cil-a.

Ludmila started to look restless. Violeta nodded her head as if to say, I don't blame you. Priscilla looked at her daughter and turned to Angie, "We'll see you soon. Listen, Angie, why don't you have dinner with us tonight? German and I will make the table for five and you can join us." Angie didn't know what to say, "You don't have to. Just think about it." She went to turn away, but didn't, "Violetta can sit by you." She grabbed Ludmila's hand and the four of them walked away.

Angie felt angry. How dare she use Violetta to manipulate her! She would join them for dinner because she wanted to, not because she told her that she could sit by her niece! She would sit by her anyway. Violetta would want to sit by her!

She took a sharp breath in. There was a disaster waiting to happen, but it wouldn't happen yet.
