Chapter 6: Looks VS Personality
I wake up on Andy’s bed. While trying to gather my surroundings I look around the room. The pictures round his room are either of his family or band. No girlfriend which I’m shocked about. No woman’s clothing lying around the room, no make-up. Nothing.
I get up and go downstairs and greet the band. I take Joel to one corner.
‘I’m sorry if I made you upset earlier’ I say.
‘It’s ok it’s my fault. I shouldn’t have had a go like that; it has nothing to do with me.’ He replies.
‘I think we got off on the wrong foot, can we try again?’ I say.
‘Hey I’m Joel Peats, I’m the guitarist in the band Lawson.’ He holds out his hand and we shake.
‘I’m Beth and I have nothing exciting to tell you about myself. I make no difference being on this planet.’.
‘You do to me, Beth’ he says.
My stomach fills with butterflies. I can’t help but smile like an idiot. I tap his shoulder then walk away and towards Andy.
‘I’m gunna get a taxi and head home’ I announce.
‘You’re leaving so soon?’ Ryan says disappointedly. Andy looks pretty miffed too.
‘Yes I’m afraid so… thank you ever so much for letting me stay here the night. Andy I can’t even think of a big enough way to repay you.’
‘I can think of a few things’ he replied cheekily. I wink flirtatiously and feel a little cheeky myself.
‘Listen I have an idea. You introduce me to your friends, I introduce you to mine.’ I suggest to Andy.
‘Depends are they hot?’ Adam asks rudely.
‘Not everything is about how hot they are, you know. It’s about personality. Something most boys like you lack.’ I bluntly reply while quickly heading to the door.
I reach for the handle when I feel a warm hand wrap around my other wrist. I look back and standing in the doorway is Andy.
‘I’d love it if you brought your friends round. If there’s as nice as you are then it’ll be a pleasure to meet them. We love the company. You’re welcome here anytime. Here’s my number for when you get a new phone.’
He places a piece of paper into the hand he’s holding gently. I kiss him lightly on the cheek and exit. I can’t believe I just kissed Andy Brown!
