Chapter 11: Hung-Over

Chapter 11: Hung-Over.

 (Beth’s POV)

I wake up and to my pure and utter shock Ryan is lying beside me… in his underwear. I stare at his toned body in awe and he slightly opens his eyes to see me staring.

‘You like what you see then?’ he says cheekily.

He sits up and kisses me and I let him for some reason. What the hell happened last night? All I remember was having a few drink with the crew. That’s all I can remember?

‘I know this might sound stupid, but what happened last night?’ I say and instantly Ryan’s face drops.

‘You don’t remember?’ he sounds disappointed.

‘No but that kiss felt right’ I said softly.

‘We didn’t do anything… we just shared the same bed. I got really hot in the night but I managed to keep my underwear on. So I apologize for a half-naked guy in your bed’ he sounds serious.

‘Oh I wasn’t complaining.’ I can’t believe I just said that out loud.

‘So me and you… what do you think?’ he says.

‘I think I need time to sober up before I make any decisions like that.’ We both laugh. Then I remember something. ‘Oh no, what about Andy?’ I say.

‘What about him?’ Ryan says obliviously.

‘He might be really miffed if we went out. And I thought I liked Andy loads. Then you came along and told me how you feel and now it’s just ruined.’.

‘So you think me and you aren’t gunna work?’ he sounds sad.

‘I don’t know…’

I like Andy, but I also like Ryan. I need to explain myself to Andy now.

 (Andy’s POV)

 I wake up to knocking on the door. I answer just in my underwear and standing at the doorstep is a wide eyed Beth who just looks me up and down.

‘If I knew it was you I would have put my dressing gown on’ I say.

‘I just really need to talk to you, sorry I didn’t give you any warning before-hand’ she looks down prepared for the worst.

I know she got with Ryan last night. I saw them both taking a taxi back home while snogging in the back seat. Can’t say I’m not disappointed but I knew it was gunna happen sometime soon so at least I didn’t get too attached to her.

‘Come in then’ I say heavily.

She stumbles in and it’s clear she’s hung-over. I close the door behind her and grab my dressing gown that’s lying on the chair and put it on so she’s not talking to my belly.

‘So what do you need to talk about?’ I say crossing my arms.

‘I need to apologize for what I did with Ryan’ she says.

‘It was only a matter of time until you two were both together. I’m always someone’s second choice anyway.’ I say trying to guilt trip her.

She steps closer to me and stares into my eyes while whispering ‘who says me and him are together?’. I gulp loudly from the nervousness. My palms begin sweating. I’m supposed to be good at this sort of thing! I wish I could stay mad at her but while she’s standing there looking as stunning as ever I can’t help but give in. My lips plunge for hers and I push her up against one of the kitchen cupboards. She pulls away and whispers ‘does this look like you’re my second choice?’ I can’t help but smirk and I pull her in yet again to kiss. But before anything else can happen we break apart from the tune playing on Beth’s phone loudly. She sighs disappointedly, answers it and holds it to her ear to speak.

 (Beth’s POV)

 ‘Hello?’ I say.

‘Urm… hey Beth, it’s Lyndsey’

‘This better be good I was in the middle of something important’ I hiss down the phone.

‘Well not quite’ Andy says in the background while winking at me. I roll my eyes and face away from him so he can’t distract me anymore.

This call sounds important from Lyndsey’s tone of voice.

‘So what’s up?’ I say innocently.

‘I need to tell you something really important…’

‘Oh really? What’s that?’ I say sounding confused.

‘Can you come round so I can tell you face to face?’ she says hopefully.

‘Yeah of course, can I bring Andy?’

‘Andy?’

‘Yeah…’

‘But I thought you went home with Ryan?’

‘Well it started that way but it’s not quite how it ended…’ I say looking down at the floor.

‘Ok well just get here with Andy as quick as you can’ she sounds desperate for help.

‘Ok!’.

 (Lyndsey’s POV)

I answer the door to Beth and Andy smiling at me helplessly. I think they’ve got the impression someone’s dying.

‘Come through, guys.’ I smile.

Beth and Andy enter and sit on the couch after greeting my boyfriend Matt. Beth introduces Andy to him. Matt and Beth used to be really good mates in high school and she is the reason I ever met him. Beth really is a true friend for everything she has done for me, Amy and Abbie.

‘So what’s up?’ Beth says and they all look up at me.

I sit down next to Matt and take his hand and I breathe in deeply and slowly release.

‘Me and Matt are expecting a baby’ I say unsure of the response.

‘And we want Beth to be the god mother’ Matt follows with.

Beth’s smile beams. Andy isn’t quite sure what to think.
