Chapter 5: Crush
I sit on the sofa nervously. I have four hot boys staring at me all at once. I pretend I don’t notice and stare down at my phone.
If I had a pound for every missed call and unread text I’ve received, I’d be a millionaire. I read them all.
‘You’re the worst sister ever!’
‘The one moment of my life I’m the slightest bit happy and you’re not here.’
‘You’ve upset your brother big time’.
The last text was from the best man. Wish he’d stop getting involved.
I sigh and look up as the boys all look away.
‘So why are you looking at me?’ I ask them all.
‘Sorry it’s just the way you’re so calm after nearly drowning in a river.’ says Joel.
‘Would you rather me be balling my eyes out and drowning my sorrows in alcohol?’ I say sarcastically.
‘Sorry, I was just saying’ he replied bluntly.
‘No need to be a b*tch, Joel’ Andy is quick to defend me.
I suddenly feel dizzy and nauseas as if I’m about to faint. Andy can tell I’m not right.
‘I think you need a lie down. Would you like to take a nap on my bed?’ he kindly suggests.
‘Yes please, I feel so sick and dizzy.’ I reply.
‘That’s not a good sign’ Ryan states obviously.
‘Well done Joel, you’ve done it now’ Adam guilt trips Joel.
Joel gets agitated and leaves the room. I go and nap on Andy’s bed.
