Chapter 23: Mahiki Part II
(Andy’s POV)
There’s a knock at the door and I’m confused because everyone who should be here already is. Beth answers the door and brings in the guest and Beth instantly points towards me and says to the guest ‘He’s your date for the night’ my heart sinks. WHAT! I feel like screaming. Although when I got a good look at her she was stunning! I stood up and shook the girls hand.
‘Hey I’m Andy’ I introduce myself.
‘Hey I’m Lauren, Matt’s sister.
Beth butts in and says ‘and for the record she hates kids!’. I turn to face Lauren and she nods.
‘Great, it’s a win win for everybody.’
We head out for Mahiki!
(Ryan’s POV)
We get there and like before, I instantly pull Beth away from everyone.
‘Mind telling me what you’re trying to do, Fletcher?’ she smirks.
‘Nothing much I’m just trying to ask you if you’d like to be my girlfriend?’ I wink.
‘Hmmm, nope.’ She says and turns away from me.
‘Oh’ I look down deeply saddened and I begin walking away. Then I feel someone tug my shirt back and pull me into a full throttle strengthened kiss. Beth pulls me away.
‘Of course I’ll be your girlfriend you mong!’ she jokes. I beam with happiness and pull her to the dance floor for a dance or two.
(Andy’s POV)
Lauren’s amazing. She’s so funny, beautiful, thoughtful and kind. She’s very confident as well and I always like that in girls.
‘You wanna dance?’ I shout so she can hear me over the blaring music.
‘Sure!’ we both stand up and dance.
(Beth’s POV)
He shoves me up against the wall passionately and kisses me. I hitch my leg around his waist and he moans slightly. We massage our tongues with one another and I can feel Ryan getting excited through his jeans. I smirk through the intense kiss and hitch my other leg around the other side of his waist and he holds my bum for support. I’m now higher than him but we still reach each other to kiss. All of a sudden we are interrupted by Amy and Joel fighting beside us.
‘I can’t believe I saw you kissing another guy!’ Joel shouts in Amy’s face. At the point Ryan puts me down because he knows dam well I’m getting involved.
‘Look I’m sorry it’s just… we’ve never… DONE IT!’ she shouts back.
‘Maybe if you told me that’s what you wanted, we would have!’ he sees this as an opportunity to push her violently into the wall. She head butts the hard brick and clenches the back of her head in pain. She squints in agony. I then see this as an opportunity to shove Joel the other way.
‘You touch my best friend like that again and I’ll break your face’ I threaten him.
‘Maybe if your best friend wasn’t a cheating two timing twit I wouldn’t have to!’ he screams.
‘Ok, how about we finish this outside? Ryan?’ I turn to Ryan ‘I’ll be back soon’ and violently kick Joel towards the door.
We get outside and into the car park when Joel heads for his car.
‘Where the hell do you think you’re going? I’m not finished with you!’
‘Well I am!’ Joel spits back.
I get in the passenger seat next to him.
‘What the hell do you think you’re doing?’ he questions.
‘As I said I’m not finished’
‘I’m driving off now whether you’re in the car or not.’
‘Fine’
*time passes*
We head along a familiar road. Joel starts crying.
‘Look Joel I’m sorry for shouting at you. I know you’re hurting right now but pushing Amy like that didn’t help things.’ I say.
Then I realise where we are. Driving alongside the Waterfall River. Where I almost drowned. Where I almost let myself die because I felt so worthless and I felt I had nothing. But now all of that has changed. I now have Ryan. I have my friends back. Lyndsey has a beautiful baby boy who is my god son. I feel there’s a meaning to life now.
Joel cries even more. Floods of tears escape his eyes and he struggles to focus on the road. The car begins bearing in the direction of the river. I’m not going back in there again! Joel rubs his eyes dry but without holding the steering wheel and we are straight on target for the river…
