(Alice's POV)

"Move it, Cat!" Joseph shoved me aside roughly. Being in a new school was obviously going to be the worst. Joseph has the brain of a chipmunk. I kept walking with my head held high. I saw a boy sitting in a shadowy corner. He was watching people pass by. His backpack was next to him. I walked past him and was pushed back by, you guessed it, Christine and her gang of brats. I've learned a lot of names in this first month...everyone has already labeled me as the psycho. Christine gave her curly brown hair a flip. Meh grinned down at me and I clutched my backpack.

"Beat it, chump. This is our school, freak." Meg growled at me. Her mother was one of the teachers at the school. Christine was a top star student but bullied everyone. I hissed. Meg reeled back and made a disgusted look.

"Ew. Just keep out our way, cat freak." She waved her hand in my face and walked past me. I reached for my backpack but Christine kicked it away as she walked past after Meg, she laughed. I huffed and grabbed my backpack.

"You'll get used to it." The boy from the shadows spoke up. He had a nice voice, I wonder why he doesn't seem to use it much. I looked over at him and mustered a kind smile.

"I hope they don't hurt you too." I said. He seemed to be a bit taken aback by my words. He scoffed.

"They do. They are merciless." He said in a bitter way. I gave a frown and sat next to him. I grabbed up my guitar and started to play 'Ugly' by Nicole Dollanganger. I sang softly to the boy. I trusted him and a few students stopped to listen too. After the song the boy stared at me. The other students left as the bell sounded. I put away my guitar. He was dazed and staring at me.

"I'm Alice. What's your name?" I asked him as I stood up with my stuff on my shoulders. He shook his head clear.

"Erik." He answered simply. He stood and took his backpack. He then turned with a flurry of his black coat and left down the hall. I giggled and left the opposite direction towards my homeroom class.
