Prompt: A prompt of Blurring The Lines where it shows more of Jin's past with bullying

----------------------------------

Jin Amano was seven years old when their gym class had a game of capture the flag out on the playground. Jin lined up with the others students, and their coach picked team captains. The captains began calling out the names of students they wanted on their side.

Jin watched the number of students diminish. He was grinning, bouncing a little on his toes in excitement. He was fast, so surely they'd want him for this.

But the lingering students were reluctantly picked, and Jin found himself standing alone. The coach sighed.

"Jin, go, you're on the blue team," he said.

The girl in charge of the blue team frowned. "But coach, I don't want him."

The boy in charge of the yellow team stuck his tongue out. "You get stuck with him!"

"We'll still win," the girl shot back.

Jin went over to their side, joining the others. The coach handed them their flags and sent them to hide the flags.

"We should hide it on the tube slide. Then they can't see it, but we'll hear them if they try to sneak in to get it," Jin said.

"Shut up," the captain said in annoyance. "That's a stupid idea."

Jin rubbed the back of his neck and forced himself to laugh. "Yea, sorry. I guess I am pretty stupid."

"At least he knows it," a boy said, the others snickering.

They hid their flag and assigned kids to guard their side and kids to hunt down the other flag. The coach blew his whistle to begin the game, and Jin found himself guarding their side.

It was okay, he told himself. He was fast. They wanted him here because they knew he was fast enough to catch the other team. That was all.

Jin spotted two boys sneaking onto their side, and he crept towards them. They climbed up the side of the playset, and Jin hurried on the other side.

"Got you!" he cried, tagging both the boys before they noticed him.

The boys glanced at each other before shoving Jin off the playset. Jin let out a yell as he hit the ground.

He sat up, rubbing his shoulder as the boys laughed. "Hey! That's cheating! You guys are out!"

"Oh yea?" one said. "Prove it."

"Loser," the other snickered, and they hurried forward.

"Hey! They're on our side!" a girl cried, noticing them. "Jin, you're so stupid! You can't do anything right!" She kicked the sand of the playset at him before hurrying after the boys.

Jin sat there, gripping his shoulder tightly. His smile was shaky, his laugh shakier. But he forced it anyways, getting to his feet.
