Prompt: Can we have Amelia finding love? I just really love Amelia and I want to see her fumbling around a cute girl while Lev is gone
A.N.- This prompt is taking place shortly after they graduated from the Academy
-------------------------------------
Amelia was learning how to interact with people without Lev. She'd gotten a little better at it, but she had her weaknesses that sent her stumbling back into a word-vomiting mess.
One of those weakness was cute girls.
Amelia and Lev had joined a local volleyball team for the summer so they could make friends. Amelia hadn't been expecting to meet the cutest person on all of earth, though.
"I'm going to help carry the stuff out to the van," Lev said to Amelia. "I'll be back in a few minutes. Wait for me here and try not to hack anything."
"There's nothing for me to hack here!" Amelia called after him.
She watched as Lev and two other players grabbed the equipment and left the gym together. She sat down on the bench, uncapping her water and drinking from it.
"Amelia!"
Amelia choked on her water, spilling some from the bottle onto her shirt as she yanked it away. She hit her chest a little until her coughing had stopped.
The girl standing in front of her frowned. "Sorry, I didn't mean to surprise you."
"Me? Surprised? No, no, don't worry about it. I just got a little wet," Amelia said, immediately blushing. "I mean, um, I'm a little clumsy sometimes, so I spilled my water and, you know, I choked on it. Just a bit. I'm okay, though. Did you know women should drink roughly nine cups of water a day? I think I've had six today. How much have you had? Do you drink water a lot?"
"I try to drink enough," the girl said. "Especially when we have volleyball practice. No need to collapse from dehydration."
"You know, Callie, I have a friend who collapses sometimes. Low blood sugar from not eating. Or it could be damage from several years of alcoholism. He's clean now, though!" Amelia knew she was starting to babble, and desperately wished Lev would show up and slap a hand over her mouth.
"Well, that's not good," Callie said, shaking her head, ponytail swinging. "You were doing really well today. You're good at serving."
"It's just about positioning and how hard you hit the ball. I practiced with Lev and my dad to get it down to a formula for myself. I know how to aim it and get it to go wherever I want," Amelia said. "I suck at everything else, though. Oh, I hope I didn't scare you when I screamed today. I didn't think the ball was going to hit me in the face. I got distracted by you. Oh! I mean, um, you know, because you have a good form and I was trying to learn. Have you been playing volleyball long? You look like you've been playing it long."
"I'm fairly new," Callie said, slipping in when Amelia stopped for a breath. "I played last summer for the first time. I was actually wondering if you want to help me practice my serving. I can help you practice your form as a thanks."
"Practice? With you?" Amelia's eyes were wide. This was a cute girl who was a total movie nerd with the kindest personality Amelia had ever met. And she wanted to practice. Alone. With Amelia.
"Sure." Callie smiled and held her hand out to Amelia. "I think we could...be good together. Really learn from each other. Maybe if we get bored of practicing, you'll let me take you out to a movie? I'll pay. The cinema has dollar popcorn on Mondays."
"Is that a date?" Amelia asked, feeling flustered. "No one's ever asked me on a date before, so don't be coded with me. I don't understand things unless they're direct. Oh, I'm so nervous. If it wasn't a date, just ignore me."
"It was a date," Callie confirmed. "Only if you want to go, though. I heard you telling Lev about your new computer. Maybe you could tell me about it over dinner tomorrow?"
"Oh my god," Amelia whispered. "God, yes, yes, I accept. A date. I'm going on a date. With a cute girl. A cute girl with a cute personality. I think I'm having heart palpitations."
Callie laughed. "I'm pretty new to dates, too. We can figure it out together. Deal?"
"Deal. So much deal. I talk a lot when I get nervous, I'm so sorry. Lev just puts his hand over my mouth to shut me up. Feel free to do that," Amelia said.
"My ride is here so I have to go. But I'll call you tomorrow. Have a good night, Amelia." Callie bent down and kissed Amelia's cheek before waving and leaving the gym.
Amelia whipped her phone out and dialed a number. She waited anxiously as it rang.
"You better have a good reason for bothering me," the expressionless voice said.
"JIN I GOT A DATE WITH A GIRL I'M SCREAMING INTERNALLY AND EXTERNALLY AND I'M JUST SO EXCITED," Amelia gushed.
"I don't care. Shut up and quit making me deaf," Jin said. "Did you already forget everything we taught you at the Academy? When you want to ramble like a moron, put a hand over your mouth and sort out your thoughts. Quit bothering me. You have a date to go fuck up."
He hung up the phone and Amelia squealed a little. Jin had actually given her advice to help her survive tomorrow.
As Lev came back into the gym, Amelia launched herself into his arms. "I'm going on a date with Callie tomorrow! Help me pick out an outfit!"
Lev was startled but he smiled and hugged her. "Good for you, Amelia! I'll help you get an outfit ready. We can practice conversation topics."
"I'm so excited!" Amelia said.
Lev smiled wider. "You deserve it."
Amelia slung her arm around his shoulder and they left the gym together. Amelia couldn't believe she was actually going on a date with a girl she liked.
