In this chapter I introduce a new character Melvin Steele, one of Charlie's ex boyfriends. I show how they connected in the past and how they've drifted. And show they relationship in present day. Hope you enjoy.
Present Day
Melvin's P.O.V
I don't like any of these. I swear this chick is gonna be the death of me.
"Hey, Kayla wanna grab something to eat, instead of choosing ugly ass shirts for me?"
"They matured shirts not ugly, and you have to meet my dad in a neat suit an tie."
I let out a loud sigh and slap my forehead. "I hate suits. Cant I just go in sweats and a baggy shirt."
"You starting to sound like Brianna you know."
"Don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing."
"You should call her, maybe she will smack some sense into your tiny head."
I sigh and yank out my phone to text her. Only to find out I've already had sixteen texts from her, Charlie and Becka. We went to different schools so, its hard for me to keep up with they lives. The last time I heard from them was after their graduation.
"Shit!" I said loud enough for the cashiers to hear me "We need to go like right now!"
We get in my car and headed to Brianna's house.
I jog to the door and knock on the door softly...
The door fly's open and there stood a halve naked Kristen.
They got back together? He was threatening to end the engagement. How is he here?
"Hi...Is Cha....Brianna home?"
"Yeah, come on in, I'll go get her."
I look back at my car and gulp. I walk in and sit on the couch. Kristen walks upstairs and minutes come down with Brianna following behind him.
I stand up as she opens her arms for me to hug her.
"Hey, scarcity..." She says softly
"I'm sorry, been terribly busy..."
She cuts me off by covering my mouth with her tiny hand "Don't care, really just...What can I help you with?"
"I saw your texts."
"I sent those two weeks ago, what have you been doing with your phone not to notice 16 texts from your best friend!!!!"
"I tried to explain but you cut me off, cause you don't care." I lowered my voice
"Kris, says you came with someone... is it Delilah?"
"No, we broke up last week...I'm riding with Kayla now!"
She slaps her forehead and sits down on the couch, I sit down on the beside her and rub her back.
"Melvin, I'm not gonna lecture you but you need help."
"When did Charlie and Kristen fix things?"
She looks at me and laughs.
"So that's why, you change girls every week. You still stuck on the fact that you lost someone you could've and wanted to marry."
"Brianna its not funny, it still stings bad and I want her."
"If Kristen heard you, you'd walk out of here with breathing problems. Go before he loses his patience and snaps your neck."
I get up and start making my way to the door slowly, hoping to see Charlie one last time. But nothing. I walk and close the door gently behind me.
I couldn't process everything hard enough. I just...You know what you distanced yourself for a reason.

"Mom, I'm home."
"I'm in the kitchen sweetie, how was job searching?"
"It was fine. A lot of them seemed convincing."
"That's okay."
"Yeah, do you think I should wait till I finish college than start my career a a rapper?"
"Babe, its really up to you. If you wanna do it than go ahead, I'll support you through out it all."
I sigh and walk up to my room.
***************
I walk out of the mini mall with plastic bags and a coke in my hand. Something just told me to look at my right. And there I saw Charlie smiling and laughing as she made her way into the mall with Kristen wrapped around her. I miss seeing that smile everyday. But surely I'd die if I ever told her how I really feel about her. And she looks very happy with her tall and muscular boyfriend.
I snap out my gaze and walk to my car, throw the bags in the back seat and drive home.
The past.
We were cuddling on the couch as Brianna and Tyler make they way out to dinner, her head rested on my chest as the smell of her braids hit like an unpredicted wave. How I love the warmth of her body. I kiss the top of her head as she gets comfortable. The next thing I knew we were both asleep on the couch. I don't think I've ever been so happy with a person. I hope things never change. I just love her too much.
Two weeks later.
Charlie throws a glass at him and it hits the wall breaking as he dodged it.
"Why the fuck are you throwing shit at me!" I yell at the top of my lungs for her to hear me threw the breaking of glasses and plates "Charlie just please talk to me, I'm begging you."
"You are such a liar! And a cheat! I hate you!"
"Babe I don't know what you are talking about. Just please calm down and talk to me."
She threw another glass and again he dodged it.
"I knew you couldn't be trusted, but here I stood thinking that you could change your playa ways!!"
Tears star falling from my eyes, I couldn't hold in the heart break anymore. I just couldn't handle it.
"Charlie I love you I don't know what you talking about!"
"Get Out! We are done! I hate you! Never call me, Text me. Don't ever come near me ever again! Get out! Before I call the police!"
I slowly turn around and walk out the door. Still trying to wipe away the falling tears. I never thought I'd see her cry cause of me. I promised never to hurt her. I'm so sorry.
Charlie's P.O.V
I fall to my knees. And let all the sobbing escape. I could feel the pieces of the broken dishes dig into my bare knees. But I didn't care, my heart hurt even more then a couple of bruises and cuts.
After a few minutes of sobbing, I clean up the dishes and glasses. And head upstairs for a long shower. I sit on the shower floor. Trying not to let any sobs out. The steam of the hot water covered the glass of the shower doors. I couldn't see outside. I just figured no one was out there to hear me sob louder than ever!
I'll definitely never love again.
