A True Friend

It was around eleven o'clock and everyone in the house was asleep.

Well except for me and Josie.

Josie came and sat on my bed and asked me, "Sabrina?"

And I asked, "What?"

She then asked, "Why do you care so much for this guy Dally?"

I asked her, "Who says I care for him?"

She tilted her head and smiled at me.

I sat up sighing and said, "It's complicated, I just really like him."

She smiled and said, "He's quite beautiful like a prince, I wonder if he is beautiful on the inside as well."

She asked me after a long pause, "So shall we bowl again tomorrow?"

I laid back down and said, "I can't I'm working at the skating rink."

Josie then asked me, "I've never worked before is this normal?"

I answered her, "Yes, lots of kids have jobs."

She said politely, "Then I will help you."

I said rudely, "You can't!"

She furrowed her eyebrows and asked, "Why not?"

I said rudely again, "Because its mine! You can't have everything that's mine!"

I slightly shoved her off my bed and she stood up.

I said to her, "You want a job so bad? Just go get one for yourself."

She said sadly, "Alright...goodnight, Sabrina."

I watched her crawl in her bed and go to sleep turning out her lamp.

The Next Day...

I was giving little kids skating lessons that pays ten dollars an hour.

When Clayton came skating by me with his same video camera.

I said to him, "Wow, you must be getting the hang of that."

He smiled and said, "Yep."

He put his camera up to my face and I said, "Clayton!"

He laughed and said, "There she is folks a future homecoming princess in Will Rodgers High School from Tulsa, Oklahoma. Who is this natural beauty you ask?"

I said annoyed, "Clayton, go away. I'm working."

He kept on, "This, this is Scarlet Curtis future queen of Will Rogers High School and she will be-"

I pushed him away from me as he skated backwards falling flat on his butt.

I just laughed to myself.

He said to me, "Hey watch the camera."

I said annoyed, "Then turn it off."

He said stubbornly, "No, ok today's my last day to get before footage. The princess vote is tomorrow."

I rolled my eyes and said, "Then, go shoot Silvia or Regina."

He said, "Nah, I've got shots of them already. They pay me to film them."

I replied, "Ah, so that's why your doing this cause of the money."

He said, "Absolutely, I'm the only senior guy in our high school to not have a car."

I sighed and said, "Figures."

He asked me, "You really hate this whole princess thing don't you?"
