Stand Up for Yourself

It was the beginning of sophomore year and I was sitting with Ned in class waiting for the bell to ring. He was asking me all these questions about being Spider-Man and The Avengers, I
eventually decided to just ignore him since he kept coming up with more questions, he was practically talking to himself. It was something like this:

"So did you find out everything your suit can do? Oohhh Did you meet Captain America? Ooo Can I see the explosive web later? No Can I meet black widow?..." and on and on and on. So I entertained myself by watching the students fill the class. We had a lot of new students this year.

The bell rung and a minute later this new girl came in after the teacher had already begun saying hello to the class.

"Glad you could join us." He said to her.

"Oh my pleasure sir." She curtsied sarcastically, then when she had her back to him going to her seat she smirked. Some people snickered at that and I smiled slightly.

"Right well, let's begin shall we? This first semester we will be focusing on DNA and RNA." The teacher droned on.

I found it much more worth my time to pay attention to something else quite more alluring. The new girl, whose name I still didn't know and that bothered me. She had long straight hair, it was a darker chocolaty shade of brown mixed with a few blue highlights. I don't know if it was just the lights but her hair was very shiny from where I was sitting.

"Penis Parker, it's only the first class of the semester and you're already focusing on something other than the teacher. Stop eyeing the new girl, she's mine." Flash scoffed trying to speak in a hushed tone but loud enough for people to hear and snicker along.

"Mr. Flash! Do you have something you would like to share with the rest of us? I would very much like to laugh as well." The teacher spoke up. Oh great! Note the sarcasm.

"I was just telling Parker here to pay attention to the lesson rather than the back of new girl's head, sir." Flash smirked.

Everyone turned to look at me, even the girl with the blue highlights. We held eye contact for just a second before she smirked and waved at me. I didn't know what to do, I blushed.

"Thank you Flash, but I think I can tell my own students to focus if I catch them slacking. Mr. Parker eyes on me please." He gave me a nod.

"Yes sir!" I said and thankfully I didn't stutter.

As soon as class was over and Ned and I started walking out of the classroom, Flash came up to me.

"Hey Penis Parker remember what I said, the new girl is mine for the taking." I really wanted to punch him into the wall at that moment but then something unexpected happened.

"Oh am I? Well I wouldn't like to go out with someone who can't think of a better insult than penis." She scoffed and stood next to me.

"H-Hey Y/N. Are you wearing space pants c-cause your ass is out of this world!" Flash stuttered. So that's her name... it's beautiful and suits her very well.

"Really?" She let out a dramatic sigh and rolled her eyes, "No they're softball pants cause my ass is out of your league. That's also very cliche Flashy..." She crossed her arms and then looked at me. People started gathering around us, just watching her tear him down and laughing at the old bully getting a taste of his own medicine.

"You let him call you that?" I just shrugged.

"It's Flash not Flashy." He muttered

"What's that Flashy?" She pretended not to have heard him, then turned to me as if she was uninterested in him.

"Well you shouldn't Parker. It's stupid to let him, you should stand up for yourself..." then her face contorted into a smirk, "Then again, instead of embarrassing you, he really is embarrassing himself since he can't come up with something better than Penis, much like a five year old that thinks potty words are cool." She chuckled to herself and Flash turned a shade of red while Ned and I stood there shocked.

"Seriously Flash, have you even been laid before? No? Not surprising! Not that I have, but you make it so obvious dude. Have you even had a girlfriend? Like ever? I'll even count like the first grade... No? Shame..." she smirked. Damn this girl is on fire! Flash was just a stuttering blubbering mess and everyone who had crowded around us was laughing at him. One person high-fived Y/N and then everyone dispersed.

"Also Parker is cute..." she looked at me and I noticed she had a set of perfect chocolate eyes to go with her hair, I blushed hard and looked away slightly, "I would much rather date him than date a five year old like you. He has a hidden charm, I bet he is more than meets the eye." She glanced at me skeptically, "Anyway bye Parker, keep your head up alright? Maybe come sit with me at lunch?" She smiled kindly at me and walked out into the hall way.

I laughed at Flash who now looked a very deep shade of crimson red. I was also blushing and Ned was in a state of shock until Flash stomped out and he finally said:

"Woah dude, She just took down your biggest enemy in school, called him an obvious virgin, hinted that she liked you and would date you, called you cute and charming aaaand asked you to sit with her at lunch, all at the same time." He made lots of exaggerated waving gestures with his hands.

"I know, I think I'll take her up on that offer." I smiled shyly.

I walked out the door and for the rest of the day, I couldn't think of anything other than Y/N. Unconsciously smiling as I wished for lunch to come faster.

A month later I managed to have the courage to ask her out. And from there I got to learn every little thing about her...

How she was actually very shy but she acted tough when she was at school, she actually wanted to be an actress. How she loved all the same movies I did and was a PC gamer like me. How she unconsciously tucked a piece of hair behind her ear whenever she saw me and blushed. How she tapped her fingers against her leg whenever she was nervous after years of playing the piano. How even after she found out I was Spider-Man she still loved me and accepted me, like I love her.
