The Girl in the Back

I casually strolled through the halls at school everyday with one backpack strap off and my hoodie covering my face, ear phone's plugged in playing music. I inconspicuously passed by all the cliques in school, the smart preppy kids, the jocks, the popular kids aka social butterflies, the emo kids, the dance group, the nerds and those who didn't fit a certain category.

Me? I had my own category.

I was the girl in the back, the emo, nerd, jock and all other categories thrown into one, save popular and having preppy fashion. I liked not being noticed and being alone. I liked to read in the corner and listen to various different types of music instead of socializing. I liked to observe from the dark, seeing everyone's little quirks and tell tale's that set them apart. Of course I noticed all those who had secrets and figured them out easily... Whether someone was cheating on someone else, secretly liked doing things their clique didn't approve of or was a superhero.

Yes, the masked hero of Queens went to my school... And it was Peter Parker, the nerd who about six months ago became really unbelievably buff. I saw him hide his web for his web shooters under the school lockers and saw him pick up the lockers as if they were as light as feathers. I overheard him talking with his friend Ned and I noticed how weird he acted when someone mentioned Spider-Man. How he would stutter and play with his fingers nervously, his whole body language becoming defensive and anxious.

Although I had my own secret...

My invisibility was no superpower but rather a skill I had mastered. When paired with my acute senses and perceptiveness of what is in front of me, it made me a type of Sherlock Holmes. Being so observant allowed me to be a sort of night time errand girl, doing what people asked of me for a fee, whether that was illegal or not. Thankfully, I was agile and fast, as well as knowledgeable in the martial arts department, which made me the best at what I did in the area.

I was known as Silverstride on the streets and to my customers. Most of the time the jobs I had to do required either a fight, a chase or hacking into private files. This job eventually was going to lead to my meeting with Peter Parker in a mask but I was trying to the best of my ability to postpone that meeting.

I sat down at the back of the class, waiting for our philosophy teacher to begin the lesson. In the meantime, while listening to music, I began to plan my next job. I had to break into the police department and collect some information for a client who was being denied access to the files. This would be no easy feat but not impossible either. I was going to have to find a way to get as many police officers out of the computer room, so I could install a virus into their system. I would have just hacked into their system from home but I used to do it so often that they upped their security measures and with the lowly equipment I have I could only do so much.

I wonder what sort of distraction I can come up with...

"Let's settle down everyone. Now let's talk about a very nice quote I heard from a colleague the other day. << Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity. But I'm not sure about the universe.>> Alright just kidding, how about <<The opposite of love is not hate, it is indifference>>. Would anyone care to comment?" The teacher said

It was time, I was inside the police station's janitor room. I had posed as a janitor to get to the computer section on the second floor and now I was changing into an officers uniform. Hopefully everything will run smoothly from here.

By a crazy coincidence, most of the police officers were called out because of some bank robbery that went terribly wrong and somehow ended up destroying the building next door. I heard on the news that Peter Parker was there too, so I hoped that would result in his being occupied and far away from the police station.

I slowly snuck into the computer room, pulling my cap down so the two other officers in the room could not make out my face. I sat down at the closest computer and inserted a USB into the tower, I just had to open a file on it which contained a virus, then get home and do all the computer work as fast as I could before they detected the bug. Part 1 successful.

I pulled the USB out and walked out of the room calmly not to arouse suspicion. As I walked through the hallways going towards the exit, that was when I saw Peter's aunt May talking angrily with an officer. I hurried down the hallway past her, worrying that Peter might be around. Even if he did not know me, he seems to have an eye for criminal activity and right now that would be me.

I made it to the front door and just when I thought I was in the clear, Peter Parker strolled right up to me.

"Hello do you know where the detective department is? Everyone at the front desk is busy, some kind of virus on their computers or something..." He said and I quickly pulled on a hat to hide my face.

"Down the hall to the right." I coughed and turned around before he could recognize me. I had to get home!

"Thank you?" He called as I walked out the front door. That was awfully close...

I took the metro after school, my client had asked me to meet him to be payed in cash. It was going to be a tricky procedure but as long as he doesn't see my face everything should be fine.

However this was not what happened... A third party decided to interfere...

The police.

They filled the metro station we were about to stop at after completing the transaction. My client had no way to escape but they didn't know me, except for my street name. Our deal was over so I was under no contract to protect him. I took my cap off and headed into a different cart then helped an old lady get off the metro train, the police skipping me entirely. I walked out with her till we got to street and she got in a cab.

"So you hack into private systems, steal, go to school and in your free time you help old ladies out of metro carts. Diverse human you are..." A familiar voice said from behind me. Well, there was no turning back now, he knows who I am.

"Hello Peter Parker. Decided to wear something a little less American flag today?" I spat as I turned around.

He looked shocked for a minute before he smirked and grabbed my arm bringing me into a secluded area, your typical alleyway. Very original Peter.

"I shouldn't expect any less from you, what is your IQ?" Peter asked me with a smile

"I've never tested it but that's not the point." I grabbed him and pinned him up against the wall "You're not going to tell the police who I am because if you do your secret is out too. I can squash you like the little insect you claim to be faster than you can say oops. Got it?"

"No need to be so hostile Y/N." He chuckled "I actually admire you but not the fact that what you do is illegal."

"Well, you gotta do what you gotta do right?" I straightened his collar and backed off. Cute sweater vests.

"I won't tell them on one condition." He smirked

"You are in no position to negotiate Parker." I practically growled.

"Am I not? Even if you do tell the police, I haven't done anything illegal, they won't keep me for long. But you... are another story." I clenched my teeth "Be my friend."

"What?"
