To say I was shocked would be an understatement. He asked me to be his friend. I suppose that wouldn't seem shocking to most people but to me...

Why would the nerd turned hunk want to be my friend?

There was no logical explanation. Maybe I intrigued him in some way? But it definitely was not what every teenage girl would think, he doesn't like me that way. Maybe he wanted something from me that he had yet to reveal.

Either way, not knowing his intentions made the whole situation more interesting.

"Be my friend". He said again

"Why?"

"I want to get to know you". He replied coolly for the first time in his life without a stutter.

"Fine". I answered and turned to walk away. I bet he wasn't expecting me to agree so fast.

"Wanna go for a coffee?" He scrambled after me. What was with this guy?

"Do you want to be my friend or my boyfriend, Parker?" I said narrowing my eyes but I kept walking forwards not sparing him a glance.

"What? Friends can get coffee too." He said as he struggled to catch up with my pace.

I stopped and looked at him with a pointed glare. "Fine. I need a pick me up anyway."

I turned again and walked towards the closest cafe but I could see him grinning from the corner of my eye. "Wipe that grin off your face it's creepy". I commented, despite one side of my brain thinking he looked kind of cute, still looking forward.

"Yes ma'am" he chuckled.

Soon we were sitting down waiting for our drinks to come, hot and steamy.

"So why do you seem so military Y/N?" He asked almost excitedly.

"Military?" I asked looking at him incredulously.

"You're very good at what you do... You've never gotten caught.. before." He grinned again, " And you're being extremely serious."

"You're with the police. I am a criminal technically. What do you want me to be like? All happy go lucky?" I sassed

"Sorry I guess you're right..." He said thinking for a moment and raising a brow, "So what's your story Silverstride?"

That question caught me by surprise. I suppose it shouldn't have since he said he wanted to get to know me but that question was very personal. I wasn't sure if I wanted anyone to know my backstory much less someone I barely knew.

"Why? Why do you want to know Parker? Why do you care? Just hand me over already, I'd rather just go to jail." I glared at him

"Wow, hey. Y/N..." It was his turn to be taken aback by my hostility, "Look the truth is... I've always kind of admired you. For your skill, your intelligence, for pulling all these things off on your own. When I found out you were a girl that went to my school, I was shocked but I guess it would be similar to my situation right? I just think we have a lot in common, except for where we stand with the law, but every criminal has a reason why they choose to oppose it. I just wanted to know yours."

His little confession left me feeling guilty for snapping at him. Not necessarily because of what he said but rather, his kindness towards me. It wasn't something I experienced often.

"I suppose you would prefer we get to know each other better before those sort of questions?" He asked looking at me with warmth and understanding in his eyes. I nodded in response.

"Okay." He smiled and took a sip of his coffee that I hadn't even noticed had arrived.

A few weeks had gone by and Peter had been making his very best effort to be constantly at my side during school hours. It was a bit annoying truthfully but I must be honest, I was beginning to enjoy his company. Him and his best friend Ned, that is. Apparently, Ned knew Peter's secret which meant that he knew mine as well. I wasn't too happy about that at first but Ned didn't seem like a bad kid, his nerdy attitude and humor cracked me up.
