It was a full moon tonight and just for the fun of it, I was thinking of making the trip to Kissena Park. I made a little picnic basket with some sandwiches, fruit and some juice then I went to pick my little brother up from school.
As I was waiting for all the kids to come out, I called my mom to let her know I was taking Liam to the park with me and thankfully she agreed to it.
"Hey buddy..." My little brother came running towards me and I picked him up in a hug, swinging him around. "How you doin' ?"
"I'm good. Where's mah?" He asked with a little lisp, looking around for her.
"She's not here Li, I'm taking you to the park today for a picnic. Whadaya say? Wanna go feed with the ducks and play in the playground?" I smiled putting him down.
"Really? Yayyy!" He jumped up and down, his cute little face shining brighter than the sun.
I buckled him up in my car and we were soon off to the park. I walked hand in hand with Liam all the way to the playground where I let him go off and play with the rest of the kids. I sat down on a bench next to the other kid's mom's and watched my little brother run around laughing without a care in the world.
My mind drifted off to how in a few years, I would have to leave and go to college. How I still had to figure out what I was going to do and how I was going to get my grades up... I kept worrying and worrying that I hadn't realized my phone was ringing. It was my best friend Peter.
"Yello?" I answered trying to sound all cheerful.
"'Ello mate!" Peter said in his really good British accent, "Where you at?"
"I'm at Kissena with Liam. Wanna come join us?" I asked hopefully, I needed someone to talk to right now to help me sort through my thoughts.
"Maybe I'll swing by..." He teased.
"Maybe?" I mused and raised an eyebrow. Liam ran over to me and asked me who was on the phone.
"It's Peter." I whispered to him and he grabbed my phone.
"Peter! Peter! You have to come!" Liam yelled into the phone, then he laughed at something Peter said and handed back my phone to me. The little cutie ran back to go on the slide.
"So? You coming?" I brought the phone to my ear
"Fine. I'm on my way... So bossy..." He joked and closed the phone.
Peter used to be very shy around me but since we became so close he has started to show his true colors. He is a very fun and funny, let's not forget sarcastic person whom I am really glad I know. I kinda even think I might have a little crush on him but I usually push those feelings down and just try and be myself around him.
Faster than I expected Peter called me back saying he had arrived and to ask me where we were. Soon enough Peter was running around chasing Liam laughing and smiling like there was no tomorrow. I just sat there feeling like an absolute mom as time flew by. It was a hot autumn day so as the evening changed into night it would still be hot enough to stay out and see the moon rise and watch the sunset. Thankfully the sun set early enough so we could get back before curfew and the sky was just beginning to turn a light shade of orange above the buildings...
"Is that your boyfriend?" One of the mom's asked me.
"Ehh no, just a friend but he's playing with my little brother." I smiled at her.
"He's a keeper honey. Would make a great dad..." She smirked at me and I blushed crimson red at her words as she got up and left me alone on the bench.
