I was listening to music like any other day. Listening to my favorite songs and quietly humming along but unlike other days I was 40,000 feet above the ground. I was sitting beside my best friends in an airplane going to London, England.
Being the adventurous type and quite unlike my friends, I really enjoy flying and I usually get really excited. When most people get excited about visiting a new country, no, I get excited because I'm gonna fly in an airplane... Which I think is very reasonable seeing as I'm flying! It kind of confuses me why people don't get as excited as I do, they even detest flying but I just put it behind me thinking that people just don't know how to have fun like I do.
Just a little information, to better understand me... I'm not normal... My friends call me the alien in the group and they were joking around about my flying in the sky would mean I was a bit closer to home... Well back to the trip...
I was on a plane going to London with my whole English class, since we were the top English class in our school we were rewarded with this trip. It was a five hour trip and it was so much fun! My friends and I watched movies, played cards and other silly games as we flew until we finally landed in London City Airport.
We collected our luggage with a minimal amount of joking around as most of my classmates were drained from the flight, although my usual-full-of-energy self was confused how sitting down tires someone out. So I was still acting as if I was on a permanent sugar rush and made everyone laugh a decent amount of times until we reached our hotel.
The school had planned for us to stay at the hotel for the rest of the day and night, thinking we would be tired from the flight but whoever wished could go shopping or in general leave the hotel and explore London (as long as we stayed close to the hotel). This was cool and all, my friends and I did want to go out and explore this unknown city but strangely enough I managed to convince them we could have fun in the hotel. Why would I want to stay in a hotel rather than go out into unknown territory, you might ask? Simple, I had this small picture in my mind of me and my friends jumping on beds and running around the halls in our pajamas, and I wanted to make that a reality.
We all changed into our nightwear and ended up laughing at each other's outfits. I was wearing some fuzzy sweat pants with sheep on them and an undershirt and the matching long-sleeved top for my sweatpants which had one large sheep on it and the words "Shhhh- I want to sheeeeep (sleep) zzzzz". If you were wondering, yes I won the weirdest awesomest pj's contest which I created in my mind.
And so here we are now, my heart is beating fast, I'm panting from running and now I'm hiding behind a wall occasionally peaking out from around the corner looking for my friend Artemis. I see her walk out into the corridor padded with a carpet and I push myself so my back hits the wall as quietly as possible so she doesn't find me. I take off down the other side of the hall and bump into someone letting out a small grunt as both the stranger and I fall on our behinds. I look up to see this boy with curly brown hair styled in a fridge on the top of his head going across his forehead and deep hazel eyes.
"Woah..." he says
"Oh god, I'm sorry..." I whisper as I get up and start helping him up.
"Stefanie..." Artemis says in a sing-a-song voice as she starts coming down the hall. She still hasn't turned the corner and she still hasn't seen me yet but this is a dead end and I've got nowhere to go.
"Now what?" I whisper in frustration looking around frantically for a place to hide.
Suddenly the boy's hand grabs mine and he pulls me into a hotel room, closing the door behind us just before Artemis came around the corner.
