It was a bit ridiculous, I never expected to find myself attempting to kill a purple alien from outer space. (Thor might be an alien technically but trust me, he is way more human than you think)
I didn't expect to be an Avenger in the first place but this just blew my mind.
Let's not even mention that this alien was trying to destroy the world with five magic rocks or something. Those kinds of things were beyond me. And that Strange guy... his name really suited him.
This entire situation was surreal to me and Peter who could both be classified as nerds. It went to the extent that Peter had once suggested to make a plan of attack based on a Star Wars movie and I quote "that really old movie Attack of the Clones".
Okay okay... Yeah... It was pretty much a dream come true to get to be part of a team of superheroes.
Fighting and capturing bad guys was all good and fun but now the serious stuff had begun. It wasn't just collecting churros as rewards and eating them on rooftops as you watched the sun disappear over the horizon of a concrete maze. (Actually that sounds pretty cool on its own)
Peter and I thought we were so ready for this and we were so excited. We wanted action and adventure and all... that... Jazz.
But... (There always has to be a but)
Things didn't really turn out as either of us expected... And that is an understatement.
Out of all the things in my life, I have never regretted something more...

Peter and I were both nervous as we knew that we had a chance right now to eliminate the problem before it happened. Everyone was ready to take that ridiculous gauntlet from Thanos and get this whole thing over with. Yet according to that strange guy... We didn't have great prospects at all. Gambling at a casino would have meant a higher probability of winning.
But the risk of loosing or not trying at all was something none of us would even think of letting happen.
We had to get that gauntlet off his arm and for that we all had to work together somehow. It's crazy that a ragtag team of humans, metahumans and different types of aliens or gods were all teaming up against one big purple Titan.
It's also crazy how the phrase "with the snap of your fingers" didn't end up being sarcastic in this case.
"You can't kill half the planet with the snap of your fingers Thanos!"
"Oh yeah?"Well I guess that was one of the more terrifying parts. Some will die but what about those who will be left behind...
I can't imagine Peter living without me... (And obviously the other way around)
Peter took my hand and brought it up to his lips leaving a gentle kiss.
"You look like you're thinking really hard there little genius" his sweet voice interrupted my thoughts. I looked up at him and forced a small smile.
"Och, I know that face. I think by now I would know the difference between your real smile and your fake one..." His hands came up to cup my cheeks instead. "Stop worrying about things... Whatever happens happens... The point is, we will try our best and we will make it out of there alive. We will make sure everyone stays alive."
Peter's eyes were soft as they always were but also determined. There was a hard glint in the gold of his eyes making it seem like honey, pure, thick and strong yet complex with beauty. His eyes always seemed to convince me more than his words, they always felt like truth to me, like I was looking right into the heart of who he was and I was welcome there.
