I woke up the next morning with bad breath and a heavy head.

I smelled bacon and immediately sat up. My father never cooks, what's going on?

I quickly changed out of my clothes from last night, shaking my head that I actually went to a party dressed like that. I put on a new pair of jeans and a t shirt and walked downstairs.

My question was soon to be answered because sure enough, Pat was cooking bacon and eggs.

"What's the occasion?" I asked wearily.

"No occasion. I told you, I've changed. I don't necessarily believe in giving you a curfew because I know you'll call when you're in trouble, but I am going to try to be a better father" He explained while making me a plate.

"Maybe you'll even call me 'dad' instead of Pat" he said laughing.

"I call you dad on special occasions"

"Fair enough. Eat up. I have to go job hunting today, I don't know when I'll be back is that ok?" He asked looking concerned. I'm seriously confused.

"That's fine? Are you feeling okay? You're acting strange" I replied.

"Just want to make sure my baby girl is happy" He said and kissed my head before grabbing his jacket and leaving.

I felt like I was just punk'd.

After I finished eating and was cleaning up my breakfast, my phone buzzed.

Carl: GET OVER HERE!! URGENT

Blair: What happened?

Carl: DEBBIE HAPPENED

What was this suppose to mean? I put my boots on and a sweatshirt before walking down to the Gallagher house.

I walked in and there were two hispanic adults in the living room with Debbie, Carl, and Fiona.

"Blair now isn't a good time" Fiona said as soon as she saw me.

"Oh I invited her" Carl said.

"Carl!" Debbie screamed clearly not wanting me there either.

"I can come back later" I said trying to back out.

"You're staying. Debbie's pregnant" Carl exclaimed, earning him a slap to the head from both Debbie and Fiona. I just looked at Debbie in disbelief. She glared at me.

"You mean to tell me none of you knew?" The older woman asked.

"I was not aware no. But she'll get an abortion don't worry" Fiona reassured them.

Soon after they left Debbie and Fiona began fighting.

"I'm not giving up this baby!"

"You don't have a choice!" Fiona screamed at her.

"Let's leave. Give them privacy" I suggested to Carl.

"I can't hang out today. Me and Nick have a job to do for G-Dog"

"Wanna do something after school tomorrow?" I suggested.

"Yeah sounds good" He said.

When I got back home to house was empty. It was already 3 pm and I decided to finish unpacking my room.

I put more posters up on my wall and put the rest of my clothes away. I plugged my headphones into my phone and turned on so music.

I was happy to be alone, I liked to let my mind wander.

However, due to my return to the South Side, my mind wandered to the day I was forced to leave, the day my father was arrested. The scariest day of my life.

Growing up a girl on the South Side is hard. Creepy men lurking everywhere. My father gave me a phone at a young age so I could call him if I was ever in trouble, and I did just that.

I remember what it was like, walking into school that day. It was warm out, the seasons were changing. My math teacher asked me to stay after school, he thought I needed extra help. Unfortunately I was too naïve to realize what a pervert he was, I was too naïve to recognize the haunting tone when he asked me to stay. He locked the door. It couldn't have been more obvious what he planned to do.

I remember my hands trembling and I remember screaming for help when he grabbed me by my shoulders and tried to force himself onto me. I can still feel his hand on my thigh. I remember I kicked his shin and ran to grab my phone from my bag. I quickly dialed my fathers number. He picked up after the third ring, but it was too late, that evil man slapped me across the face with such force that I fell to the ground. I was lucky my father could hear him yelling at me through the phone.

Within minutes my father was there, beating the man senseless. Because that evil man scarred his little girl.

That's why he was arrested. The judge didn't believe he was defending me. He was sentenced to four years and I was sentenced to live with my aunt.

Even though my worst memory happened on my South Side, it's also the home of some of my best.
