Different Worlds

Chapter Twenty Four

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Kenzie closed the door behind her as she walked back into the apartment. The girl bit her lip to try and hold back the smile that was threatening to appear.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀She laid her head onto the wall as she let out a small, happy laugh. The kiss kept replaying in her head over and over making her even more giddy.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"Mads, where are you?" Kenzie yelled through the apartment, her smile not once faltering. She was on cloud nine.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"Hold on I'm coming." She answered, and Kenzie just nodded even though Maddie couldn't see her.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀She walked over to the couch, and sat down slowly, was it weird that she was so beyond excited she couldn't even focus on anything.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀It was no where near like this the first time she kissed Hayden...not that this was the first time she kissed Johnny either. The first time it was barely a kiss, the second time she was too sad to actually enjoy how happy she felt but now, it was like everything was perfect.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"Who was at the door?" Maddie asked as she came down the hallway. Kenzie looked up as she approached her.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"You're never going to guess what just happened." Kenz sighed still smiling like an idiot, and Maddie narrowed her eyes confused.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"Something to do with a boy?" She asked with a smirk as she raised her eyebrows, and Kenzie giggled.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"Maybe."

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"I know it was silly, how do you think Johnny even knew where we lived?" Maddie asked plopping down next to her sister, as her jaw dropped. She pretended to be hurt, in a joking way, that she didn't tell her.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"You were in on this?" She asked her smile broke through her surprised face and Maddie chuckled.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"Mhm." She answered, and before she knew it they both were cracking up, for some reason. Kenzie couldn't control her good mood, and obviously it was contagious.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Maddie wanted to meet Johnny properly, the day after Kenzie and him had made up and kissed. She said she only talked to him over the phone, and he explained a bit about how they knew each other. She knew it was true because she had heard Kenzie talk about Johnny before.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀So there the three of them were, sitting around their kitchen table, eating and talking...not at the same time of course. It wasn't as awkward as Kenzie assumed it would be.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"Yeah, so yeah basically Jack and I met in a college lecture, it's really not that interesting." Maddie answered John, he had asked how she and her boyfriend met. He was just trying to make conversation, little did he know, what lead up to Mads and Jacks relationship was not very interesting.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"They're such a cute couple, but their love story is beyond boring." Kenzie said with a small laugh as she fake yawned. Maddie glared at her jokingly.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"Oh alright, then how did you two meet?" Maddie asked in a challenging way. Kenzie and Johnny looked up at each other with wide eyes, and they both started dying of laughter.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀They sat their just chuckling as Maddie looked at the two of them like they were absolutely insane. Which may have been true, because they met in the weirdest way possible.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"What's so funny?" Maddie asked with a small smile. Johnny's and Kenzie began to compose their laughter.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"You already know the story Mads, I just never told you it involved him..." She trailed of as she began to giggle again, Johnny looked at her with a smile that she returned.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"What?" Maddie asked, "wait...no he's the guy?" She asked as she began to chuckle as well. Kenzie just nodded.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"Yup that's me." Johnny said trying to hold back another laugh.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"So...you kissed him that day and that's how you two met?" Maddie asked smiling, and Kenzie and John both nodded.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"Yeah, so hah I beat you. Our story is more interesting." Kenzie said sticking her tongue like a child at her sister.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"You defiantly did. Oh gosh that's hilarious, it'll be one hell of a story to tell your kids one day." Maddie laughed but Johnny and Kenzie's jaw dropped. She just said 'their kids'?

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"Oh gosh guys stop acting weird, I just meant if you guys like get married and stuff." Maddie laughed, and eventually so did Johnny and Kenz. For once in her life, Kenzie felt like everything was beyond perfect.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Maddie had left the room to go talk to Jack after saying a quick goodbye to Johnny. He was leaving the next day because he had to be back for school.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"Im going to miss you." Kenzie announced slowly. They were both standing in front of her door, so they could say their goodbyes.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"I'll miss you more." Johnny said, as he took his hand and pushed a loose strand of her hair behind her ear. Kenzie looked at him grimly, she so badly wanted him to stay, but it wasn't an option.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"I'll try and come visit soon..." Kenzie trailed off starring into Johnny's eyes.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"Me too." He answered and she tried to force a small smile onto her face. Kenzie perched herself on her tippy toes and pecked Johnny's lips.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"I was just wondering, before you go...what exactly are we?" Kenzie suddenly asked, because he hadn't asked her out, yet she knew they were way more than just friends. For goodness sakes they said they loved each other and everything.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"Well... uh do you want to be my girlfriend?" Johnny asked seeming kind of nervous, but Kenzie just smiled widely. How cousin he possibly think she could say no after everything?

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"Yes." She whispered as he connected their lips once more, and even though she was sad to see him go, she was still happy.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"I'll call you tomorrow morning before I get on my flight." Johnny explained and Kenzie nodded slowly.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"Okay...bye, I love you." She said wrapping her arms around Johnny as he did the same. Being in his arms made her feel the most safest she'd ever felt.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀"Bye, love you too." Johnny answered as they both released from the hug. Johnny looked at Kenzie with a mixture of happiness and sorrow as he walked out the door.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Mackenzie may have been sad, but she knew it wasn't the end at least. She'd see him again, because their story was just beginning.
