It was the day after the whole mess and now I was really trying to contact Kevin. I've called him sixteen times and left around twenty messages. This has got to be one of the biggest fights we've ever been in.
I looked down at my phone and there was no notification, I slouched over at the bowl of cereal I was eating. My dad bought my favorite; Lucky Charms but it didn't really make me hungry or happy. All I wanted was to make things up with Kevin.
"What's wrong with you?" Max said setting down a bowl of cereal next to me. He sat down in the extra chair then looked down into my plate, giving me a weird face I couldn't help but to sigh.
"Ava... What's wrong with you? It better not be because of that idiot who I think is named Kevin." He said picking up his spoon and dipping it into his bowl of cereal. I looked up at him and then back at my bowl, seeing how soggy the cereal was getting every minute. As the cereal slowly absorbed the milk I put my arms around my face trying to calm down.
"I just feel like it's my fault he left. Like he said, he doesn't want to work with a person who doesn't trust him. Clearly I'm a horrible friend for not trusting someone I care for." I said sighing once more. I moved my spoon around my bowl but didn't scoop any cereal out, I just watched, as the cereal slowly broke apart.
"Don't think about it to much, he'll come around sooner or later. I did notice he cared for you, well not as much as I do. But look at the bright side, you got me." He said giving me a cheeky smile.
"That's the problem." I said beginning to laugh, Max scoffed but then burst out laughing with me.
That same day we decided to go more down the map. While driving more into Tijuana we stopped at a hair salon so they could cut my hair shoulder length. Max decided to let his hair grow out because it was already short, I also made a suggestion of growing out his beard, which he'll be doing as well.
Once we were far enough from the city my dad decided to rent us a room at a resort where he knows thousands of tourists will be. He knew it was a perfect spot as we where able to fit in.
When we in front of the resort my dad handed both of us a small little square box, I opened mine revealing a two rings. I looked at him funny but he explained to us if we wanted to play the part we had to look the like the part. I immediately put mine on and I saw Max throw his in his pocket. I gave him a hug in the car and jumped out with my suitcase, Max came behind me grabbing his suitcase then mine out of my hands. We waved as the car left and then began walking up to some huge white gates; this looked more like a mansion than a resort. As we walked through gates and into the building there was a huge room to sign in or for walk-ins. We went up to the front desk where a blond lady with some amazing blue eyes greeted us.
"Good afternoon! Welcome to our amazing Maldo resort. Are you already enrolled or will you like to find a room today?" She said really perky. I made an account then picked out a room. I noticed the whole time she was trying to flirt with Max, I rolled my eyes trying not to barf. But then I realized he didn't put on his ring, so she probably thought he was just a friend or family. I know how to play this game, I passed her the clipboard with the check.
"Oh honey, we just got off the taxi so you can put your ring on now." I said grabbing his hand. He looked at me confused but then it hit him and he pulled out the box from his pocket.
"Right, sorry babe." He said let going of my hand and slipping it on, the blond mugged me then went to the back room. Acting like this felt normal because when we use to go out to party's and guys I didn't like tried hitting on me Max would come out of the blue and save me, pretending to be my boyfriend.
The lady then came out with a huge smile, which I knew was fake and handed us our key. "Thank you for choosing our resort." She said sitting down at her desk.
We looked at the number and began walking towards the back of the building, and to our amazement we saw the whole resort. The place was huge! There was 5 smaller buildings for the rooms, 3 Large pools, tons of bars, the beach, 2 big dance clubs. This was a dream at paradise, there was so much more places I wanted to go to all of them!
