Chapter 37

-----Xander's POV-----

I keep thinking about Astrid and how Derek said she isn't who she says she is. I know I'm not that different from her in that area but what was so bad that made her have to get a new identity? Who is she? I know, I know, this isn't any of my business but life is so boring now! If an oppurtuninty of some kind of fun comes along who am I to deny it?

"Xander, why are your friends SO BORING?!" Mason yelled at me and I laughed. 

"At least I have friends," I teased but he glared at me and walked back over to Otilia. What was up with him? He always has a comeback! Fine, he can be boring too. I looked around our game room to see that only River, Rick and Andy where with us. Where did the rest of the dweebs go?

"I'm gonna go see what everyone else is up to," I said and left without waiting for a reply. Okay, first stop, grumpy Kyle. Lord, hear me now as I pray to you to give me some kind of mystical unicorn power to not die! Bracing myself, I pushed open the door. Uh oh, the whole threesome is here. Kyle, Blake and Ash stared at me as I walked in the room. Well, it's better than them glaring or eating out my guts. "What are you guys up to now?" I asked as I leaned against the doorframe. 

"Would you just leave?" Kyle asked me impatiently but I just rolled my eyes, I'm not that easy to get rid of, bitch! I shook my head and smirked. "Why the hell not?!" You think that'll phase me? Please, I got my unicorn powers! 

"'Cause I don't want to," I replied. Blake was now on his phone while Ash was smoking out the window. Idiot. That's not even a cool brand!

"Fine, stay, see if I care. So, do you really think he killed her?" Jake asked and ash put down his cigarette and Blake put his phone in his pocket. Killed who? Who are they talking about?

"Why the fuck are you two still going on about this, she doesn't even matter!" Ashton groaned, okay, I'm guessing it's a girl he used to like or something. But he's a player, he never 'likes' a girl. He doesn't care for anyone or anything.

"Well, I want to know what was going on that night! Is that such a crime?" Blake retorted. Ash didn't reply so he carried on talking. "Who was that guy she was with? They seemed to be friends and I swear there were guns involved in that fight." Guns? Fight? Was Derek involved in any of this? I mean, they did call him a murderer and they do look like they hate each other. But Derek would of told me when we were alone, wouldn't he? Oh quit fooling yourself! They don't tell you anything anymore and they're not supposed to! Wait, if I get into this would people realize my true identity? They couldn't, I changed 2 years ago! No one would remember a missing guy from then.

"Yes, but what if she got out of that and was hit by the car."

"No, I swear I heard someone shout her name as if she'd died."

"Hm, I suppose, do you honestly think it was Derek though? I mean, sure, he's an ass but I think he actually liked her, y'know? What if it was the guy from the gang? The one who came to school looking for her?" Derek? He wouldn't kill someone without reason.

"What girl?" I asked. 

"Alexis Redmond." No way! Derek loved her! But I can't say anything, can I. No one knows that I know Derek and that has to be kept a secret. I nodded and left the room. I might as well check on the chicks if I'm here. I walked into Astrid's room to find them all sitting on the bed and talking about girly stuff.

"Hey," I said as I walked in and looked around. She did a really good job at decorating her room, the paint looks awesome and it looks pretty neat and tidy, even the paintings and posters look good and in place. "Do any of you want to go to the fair? It's quite boring here," I asked and they all either shrugged or nodded. Guess we're going to the fair then.

This was the WORST idea ever! Why the hell did I want to go to the fair with these people! Ugh, they are so boring! Seriously, why can't I be a wolf? That would be fun.

"X, are you even listening to us?" Taylor snapped at me and I rolled my eyes for what felt like the millionth time, does she not get how annoying she was being? "You know what? Forget it! I'm going home!" She stalked off and didn't look back at any of us. 

"Alright, what happened?" I asked and they all stared at me in shock. Seriously? It can't be that big.

"You just missed the funniest, stupidest, craziest, bitch fight of the century," River said and I raised an eyebrow, yeah, like something that good would happen.

"Oh yeah? What was it about?" 

"Nothing," Nina grumbled as she too, got up and left the table. Seriously?

"Nina, wait!" Andy called as he ran after his sister. Huh, I guess it was pretty big then.

"Anyone gonna fill me in on the details?" I looked around but no one said anything. Finally, Otilia sighed and nodded.

"Well, there's this guy that Taylor likes but he was a douche to Nina and now the guy came over here and asked Taylor out which Nina begged her before to not say yes. Taylor said yes then those two started bitching which somehow lead to a fight about style or something? I'm not sure. Point is, those two were arguing and throwing food like crazy and then Taylor asked you for back up since we're all on Nina's side. Then you, as usual, weren't paying attention which made her angry 'cause, well, I'm not really sure 'bout that." She smiled at the end as I stared at her. I missed all of that? How the hell did I not know what was happening? Oh yeah, I was thinking of werewolves. Ah, werewolves, I'd love to be one. Wait, what about vampires? After all, Edward did get Bella and he was a vampire. STOP! Dammit, two of your friends just stormed off and this is what you're thinking about?  Okay, what should I do? I could talk to one of them but who should I go to? Nina has Andy so I could try and calm down Taylor. Wait, why should I be the one to go?

"So, what happens now?" I asked them.

"Well, the appropriate and usual thing to do is for someone to also go off after Taylor whilst the rest of the group are sad for 5 more minutes. Then the rest of the group decide to continue whatever they were doing before and then go to each girl the next day once they have calmed down. But in this particular event, the other guy goes after the guy who asked Taylor out and makes him talk or threatens him to some extent. Then the group dwells on who was right and who was wrong. So, who will take up what part? I nominate Xander to go and talk with Taylor and River, as you're supposedly the tough guy, you go after the dude who started this," Rick said. Where the hell did that come from? This guy spends too much time in a book. Oh well, guess I'm going after grumpy, little, lover girl. Can I get an award for taking my second suicide mission of the day? No? Okay, but you've made a very unhappy unicorn wolf spirit thing, um, I mean human.
