~Slight Trigger Warning~

~Jack’s POV~

There was a faint knock at my window leaving me unsure as to whether I had actually heard anything. I pulled my headphones out to check if there was something there when I heard it again. So I got up and wandered over to the window where I found Alex leaning against the wall with his head down. I quickly opened it and let him in. The second the smaller boy was in my room, he had his arms wrapped around me tightly and was sobbing into my shoulder. I tried to move him slightly to hold him at arm’s length, but every time I tried Alex just gripped tighter onto my shirt. I gave up for the time being and just tried to comfort the distressed boy. After a couple of minutes of just standing there I noticed my shirt was wet and starting to stick to my skin. It wasn’t at my shoulder so I knew it wasn’t his tearstains.

“Alex?” I asked gently. “My shirt is wet…”

“Shit.” He sniffed and tried to pull away from me, but I kept him next to me. His head was hung low and I could see the fresh tears forming in his eyes.

“Have you treated and cleaned it yet?” I asked. Alex didn’t reply. “Lex, I need to know. Have you treated your cuts yet?” He slowly shook his head as the tears started to fall again. I pulled him back into a hug before leading him towards the bathroom. I sat him on the toilet while I gathered what I needed.

“I need to take your shirt off okay?” I asked him. When he gave me a small nod, I carefully peeled his shirt off, letting out a small gasp when I saw his scarred body. I had seen it before and it didn’t really bother me what he looked like, but it still shocked me to see it like this.

“Oh Alex,” I sighed when I saw the new cuts. There were a few small and shallow ones on his arms, but it was his hips that had taken the force of his attack upon himself. There were two long, deep cuts on both sides of his hips, which still had blood pouring out. I quickly cleaned and bandaged the wounds, hoping that he wouldn’t have to go to hospital with them. When I had finished I changed my shirt as the blood had seeped through my shirt before I gave Alex a change of clothes. He emerged a couple of minutes later looking drained. He crawled straight into my bed and curled up into a ball, which was one of his signals that he didn’t want to talk. I turned off the light before I too crawled into my bed.

“I’m sorry Jay,” came his voice in the darkness.

“S’okay, Lex. We’ll talk about it tomorrow.”

“Kay.” With that he fell asleep. After a while of listening to his heartbeat steady, I too eventually drifted off to sleep.
