Chapter 16

I went to andys work and his boss was in his room again but this time she was sitting on a desk and he was leaning against his in front of her. The little smile he gave her I knew he was flirting. I walked in and he looked over at me and he smiled weakly.

"Hey, how are you?" He asked. He didn't even call me a nickname or reach for my hand and hug or kiss me. He talked to me like I was a long lost friend he didn't even care about seeing.

"Good." I said as I walked toward him and he smiled and nodded and folded his arms in front of him as I stood next to him.

"So I'll see you later Sam." He said and she nodded and smiled.

"I'll see you." She said and he winked at her and she walked out the room and I looked up at him.

"You want me to stay positive but you make me feel like complete shit. You're the only one I'm fighting for andy. I'm sorry I can't give you what she can right now-" he cut me off by clashing his lips to mine and I put my hand on his chest as he turned into the kiss more.

"I am flirting to save my ass here do you hear me?" He asked tilting my chin up and I looked up at him.

"You got everything I want and give everything I want. I couldn't ask for more. She said something about me taking time off a lot and threatened to write me up so I worked my magic and started flirting. She took it serious which was what I was aiming for. I'm sorry I'm such a ladies man but you're my only lady." He said and I chuckled and rolled my eyes and he smiled.

"But seriously how are you feeling sweetheart?" He asked tucking a strand of hair behind my ear.

"I'm okay I guess." I said and he nodded.

"I want you to stay here for a little. Just until the end of the day. I asked the administrators and my boss if I could talk and have a meeting with them and I was going to just be me but I want you to be there. I want to talk to them and explain and ask if I should put my two weeks in or if I could get a leave of absence." He said.

"Andy-"

"Jasmine I'm serious." He warned and I nodded.

"Okay." I said.

"Okay." He nodded and stood up straight as the bell rang.

"Just pull that chair up to my desk and you can sit while I teach." He said and I grabbed it and put it next to his as kids walked in. I sat down as he got everything ready. I hated being in his room while he had classes sometimes. They were all so nice but it was so awkward seeing the girls stare him down. He started teaching and I wanted to start snoring. I was so damn tired and he could have put me to sleep right there.

Andy and I were waiting in a conference room in the guidance office. We were sitting next to each other and his boss and an attractive man around andys age walked in and so did the superintendent. They sat down and he looked up at them and bit his cheek.

"What's up andy?" The one around andys age asked.

"Well first off this is my wife Jasmine. Jasmine that's  Derek, Sam, and Dylan-" he paused.

"Nice to meet you." I smiled weakly and I felt a pain in my stomach and ignored it but tensed up some.

"So what's going on?" They asked.

"I know I've been having a lot of time out but I have a lot going on right now and I know there's going to be more time out in the future from now on-" he paused and I winced. He noticed it and he sat up.

"You okay?" He asked and I nodded.

"I'm fine." I said and he looked back to them.

"I was wondering if I should just put in my two weeks now or if I could get a leave of absence." He said.

"Depends on the reason." Derek said and the pain was getting worse.

"Family." Andy said.

"Everyone wants to spend time with their family." Dylan chuckled.

"Yeah but my wife has cancer so it's different and I'd appreciate it if you respected me a little bit more with spending time with my family right now." He said and they looked at me and he clenched his jaw.

"I'm sure we could give you a time of absence. Tell me all the time you need and I'll give you it andy. I'm not letting you quit this job. We'll give you time and understand." Derek said and andy had tears in his eyes as he nodded and it broke my heart. My stomach stopped hurting and I relaxed more.

"When would my last day be?" He asked clearing his throat.

"As soon as possible right? Friday probably. How about 6 months?" Derek asked and andy nodded.

"That sounds fine." He nodded. His boss looked pissed but Derek had more authority and she couldn't tell him no. Andy had one last week teaching before he was off for 6 months and I felt horrible for being the reason he had to stop for that long. We both got up and Derek hugged Andy and he smiled weakly and hugged me.

"You take care of yourself alright? Andy come to my office and bring her." He said motioning him to follow and andy grabbed my hand and led me into his office. I was so damn confused.

"Andy you know about my wife right?" He asked and andy nodded slowly.

"That's why I wanted to talk to you. You would understand." Andy said and he handed me a paper.

"My wife has cancer. She's been fighting it for a few months now and she had no chance of survival and now she's getting better. She's been eating healthy and it's been giving her energy and she gets tired but it's understandable. We have teenagers that fully understand the situation and we've all been positive for her. The doctors said she's almost completely cleared. That's some of the things our doctor suggested. I don't know how bad it is-"

"They said it was stage 3 and she didn't have a good chance." Andy said rubbing his scruff.

"My wife's was stage 4. Try and follow that diet Jasmine. Trust me you can eat pizza and chocolate and anything but eating healthy and staying healthy will help you." He said and I nodded and andy wrapped his arm around me and kissed my temple.

"We're going to be okay." He said softly and I nodded and closed my eyes as he held me. I loved him so fucking much there were no words to explain how much everything he did meant to me. He could have been giving up his career for me and I hated the idea of it but it still meant so much to me.
