*Sorry for the time lapses, but I'm trying to get more... spice into my story. Thanks(:*
ANNAS POV
Saturday
Oliver just called me and told me he was five minutes away. Lucky for me, I was dressed and ready to go.
Considering it was a nighttime event, it was bound to get a bit chilly. I dressed comfortably and warmly. I dressed in a baggier pair of black skinny jeans that I rolled up, a loose white T-shirt, and a comfortable pair of sandals.
When I asked my mother for permission, it took a bit of persuasion. She wanted to know who Oliver was, where we were going, and why Kellin wasn't joining us. "Mother, we broke up," I had spit at her. She nodded, and continued to pester me with parental questions. I answered each one with honesty and eventually she allowed me to go. I was allowed to be out until eleven-ish.
Honk, honk. Sounds like Oliver is here. I told my mom I was heading out, kissed her, and walked out to Oliver's black car. When I reached the door, I noticed he was grinning widely at me. "Phone?" he asked as I sat down in the comfy seat. I nodded and clicked my seatbelt into place. Stop feeling so guilty. You're free now! I reminded myself.
For most of the drive, Oliver droned on and on about his friends, Matty, Alan, and Jenna. I zoned out after he told me each of their names. I wish Robin would have come.
A few days earlier, I called her and asked her if she'd like to come. She gave me a flat, "No," and hung up the phone. I should really talk to her soon, in person, I mean.
After the lengthy drive, Oliver pulled into the sandy parking lot, signaling that we had arrived at our destination. I decided to suck up my guilty emotions and enjoy my time with my new friend. When I started walking towards the beach, Oliver told me to wait a second.
"Hey, I brought blankets and food and stuff, that way if you get cold of hungry..." he trailed off while pulling out a red bag. I'm guessing the food and blankets were in the bag.
I smiled at him and said, "Thanks, Oliver."
He smiled back and with the wind blowing through our hair, we walked toward the beach. I enjoyed the smell and the aura of the beach. It made me feel at peace. I hadn't been to the beach since... since last summer with Kellin.
As I lied in his arms, I took in his sweet scent and listened to him sing quietly. It sounded like something I had never heard before. "What's that your humming, babe?" I asked quietly.
It was a beautiful quiet scene with the sun setting, the sound of the waves crashing on the shore and Kellin humming while rocking me back and forth.
"Oh, its a song I've been writing for a while. I wrote it for you," he said. "It's called If I'm James Dean, Then You're Audrey Hepburn."
I blushed. A song for me? How sweet. "Sing it for me, please," I asked. Kellin grinned and began. "Stay for tonight if you want to, I can show you what my dreams are made of, as I'm dreaming of your face..." he sang. From beginning to end, it was a beautiful song. I told him so, too, and then I kissed him."Oliver!" a bunch of voices shouted from a distance. I looked towards the direction that the voices were coming from to see a pretty blonde girl, and two boys with red hair. Gingers. I silently laughed.
"You alright?" Oli asked. I nod and trail behind him as he runs up to his friends.
"Hey, guys. This is my friend, Anna," he says while pointing at me. "Anna, this is Matty," he says while gesturing towards the ginger with the nose piercing. "Jenna," he says while motioning toward the blonde, "An her boyfriend, Alan," he says pointing to the other ginger. I smile and say, "Hello."
They grin at me. Oliver looks at me and asks, "The boys and I are going to start the fire in that empty area over there." He points to the spot with his head. "Will you be okay staying here with Jenna?"
I nod. "Yeah, I think I'll be okay."
"Cool," he says. "Alan, Matty, let's go start the fire. Its getting a bit chilly."
Before Oliver runs over to where our fire will be, hands me the bag. "Hey," Jenna says. She smiles, and I notice how much prettier she is up close.
"You're really pretty," slips out of my mouth. She blushes and nods. "Thank you."
"You're welcome. I didn't mean to say that out loud," I say and begin to laugh. Fortunately, Jenna laughs with me.
We slowly make our way over to the boys and Jenna says, "Oliver really likes you, you know that right?" A blush creeps onto my cheeks. "I didn't know that, actually." Jenna smiles. "Well, he does. Honestly, Alan and I thought you were just being nice to him because of Kellin and all," she admits. What? Kellin? What does Kellin have to do with this?
"Wait," I say. I'm so confused. "What does Kellin have to do with Oliver?"
Her blue eyes give me a look, saying 'Don't you know?'
"We thought you were just being nice to him because he is Kellin's stepbrother. But now that you're here... we figured that you actually liked him."
Stepbrother?
